Description: This isn't the best quality pic, but I wanted it as a companion to the pix I found of me as a tot sitting on the steps. It is a photo that was taken on reg film in color that I already scrapped and then scanned through my roller scanner several years back to post on my fridge as motivation to lose the pds that have accumulated over the past 10 yrs. Didn't work worth squat!
The scrapbook all the grand kids put together for their grandmother's funeral recently got me to thinking about how I will be remembered, and this photo of me communing with my flowers will be a familiar memory to my sons. They will remember me, for better or worse, as an obsessive personality. For much of my life my obsession has been reading and I could never linger for an hour or two over a book, but devoured it all at once. For years I was obsessed with gardening, pouring over catalogs, drawing elaborate flower bed maps, visiting every nursery within a 100 mile radius, gardening in my sleep and waking hours, and then sitting, as pictured, on the steps, watching my flowers grow! While I have always loved photographs and scrap booking, discovering this site turned that hobby into my latest obsession so that now my family looks for me in my scrap room rather than on the steps, though I still love my flowers and a good book. I just realized that scrap booking is the culmination of all 3... I get to arrange flowers on the page of a book that writes my own story!
This page is written with the beautiful BG "porcelain" collection. I saved the outer trim from a layout yet to be posted and used it to form the bracket border. The stems are vinyl cuts from my silhouette and the pink rose buds were purchased from Gabriellep's etsy shop. I also added liquid pearls and stickles.
WOWZA Jackie!!!! Look at how long & lean you are!!! Love this pic of you......... you look so happy! Your design is gorgeous right down to the placement of each pearl!!!!!! Enjoyed reading your description too!
Jackie, I hope I'm not out of line; the statement you wrote here in SB.com is so beautiful that you should copy it to include somewhere on this layout even if it's hidden so that others who know you (or think they do) can feel what I felt when I read it. So touching. It makes my Hall of FAV's just on that. But with the pretty paper choices, the distressing and each painted pearl you make a beautiful statement about the quality of yourself as a whole person. I appreciate your talent.
This is beautiful. I've tried the skinny pic on the refrig too...just got used to seeing it so it became part of the door..didn't work here either.
Love the layout and those lovely porcelain pps. So the "shaped" pp is actually a sheet of pp place behind the negative space of something you cut out earlier...clever girl. Love all the embellies and the "pearls".
this is lovely! and great descriptive narrative! the pearl accents here are perfection! what a beautiful design and layout! And look at you! such a beauty!!!
