I hope this does not offend anyone - it is Bill in the upper right wearing a apron of the David statue. He was not parading around naked from the waist down in the gift shop in Rome. The cow is in front of Roadhouse grill.
Here is the journaling:
Sunday, October 18th – We took a train from Naples to Rome and Bill napped a good bit of the way.
When we got to Rome it was time for dinner and we wanted something without anything that even
resembled a tomato in it. We were pizza'd and sauce'd out.
Prices are outrageous – we tried Burger King but a whopper was $9.00 American. So we found a
nice Roadhouse Grill, a chain we are familiar with at home and split a rib-eye and fries. It turned
out to be plenty for both of us, although the Coke was small and they don't have free refills in
Italy! They also do not offer ice in soft drinks. Together, the steak, fries and Coke came to just
over $38.00 American! This was getting to be a very expensive vacation!
Our room was nice and clean but had two single beds instead of a larger bed for both of us. We
have pushed them together but then one of us always falls in the crack. We had this problem all
over Italy. When we went to the desk to ask for a larger bed we found out why we've keep getting
small single beds. Rooms come with two singles unless you ask for a “matrimonial” bed. Only then do
you get a larger bed. They do not understand double or queen or king! And we didn't know to ask
for a matrimonial bed!
Our room is very small it has a cute balcony overlooking the street. The floors are all marble but
the bathroom is the smallest I've ever seen. The toilet is in the shower stall – literally. You have
to put the toilet paper on the edge of the sink because if it is anywhere near the toilet it will get
drenched when someone takes a shower. When you close the shower curtain the toilet is enclosed too
and you have to be careful not to trip over it.
After dinner we walked through some little shops and when I turned to see where Bill was, he was
wearing an apron with the body part of the nude statue of David. We didn't buy it.
