NSD 2010 All week Challenge.
I took this pic in October 2009 at the botanical gardens in Gijon (Spain). It is an "horreo". It is a traditional barn typical of my province (Asturias, Spain). There are not many of these nowadays, so they are considered cultural heritage.
It has four "pegoyos" (the stone-pyramid). There is a space between the stair and the horreo, so animals like rats cannot access to it. The roof materials are varied depending on the place the horreo is situated (east, west of Asturias...) but it is usually tile, slate (like chalkboards) or straw and the roof always have the same shape.

Why I use this photo.
When you ask a person that it is not from Spain about my country, they only know about Madrid, Barcelona, Andalucia and the islands. But Asturias, my province, located at the north of Spain, is not known. Well, I invite you, if you one day come to my country, to visit the north of Spain (not just Asturias), you will see beautiful landscapes and another traditions that there are not in the south (that it has it's beauty too). A person of the north maybe does not give you his/her heart the very first time you meet, but when he/she gives it to you, it's forever.
