While I’m blessed to have a number of photos of myself as a young child, I have exceedingly few from about the age of ten onwards (chalk that fact up to the demise of my parents relationship, which really started to deteriorate around that point in my life). By the time they’d actually divorced a couple of years later, I can’t even remember seeing the camera come out of hiding most of the time unless it was for a holiday or birthday. As such, this photo (in which I’m teetering on turning 14) is exceedingly priceless to me.
Snapped on a sizzling hot summer evening, this image speaks volumes to me. It stands for a very hard time in my life that straddled the dysfunctional years of my early childhood and the chaotic (and ultimately no less dysfunctional) world I’d go on to create for myself in my teen years. Though some degree of peace eventually came my way and I got past though trying times, when I look back at the girl in this picture, I just want to reach out, give her the biggest hug and let her know that eventually those stormy years will pass.
~ Heartfelt thanks for out my page. Any questions about this LO, please don't hesitate to ask. Wishing you a blissfully creative day! <3 Jessica (Scrapbooking Poetess) ~
