This is a photo of my mother, Elynor, and her brother, Ted. It was taken in New York circa 1922.

Ever since I started posting on this site, I have discovered new techniques and have been experimenting with them. This is the first time I have ever done masking with stencils. I have also never used burlap or rafia before, so I bought them at JoAnnes and was waiting for the right photo and trying to figure out how to use them. Yesterday, I saw a beautiful seashore LO done my Jan (Memories of my Girls) where she used burlap for her entire canvas. When I chose the DA clock for my LA, I thought it might look good if I could do what Jan did and use it as the background for my photo by sewing it to the clock. I decided to paint my clock and BB flourishes black to contrast the burlap and then did the black brick masking at the left top. I then thought I'd use the raffia to make a bow and added the berries (which I never used before) and the feathers (which were also new for me) just to add a bit of color.
