The McCormick sisters c.1890
Kim hosted the January SGC Challenge and she gave us two twists to work with: to scrap a photo that has been on the back burner for a long time (that was easy!!!). and (far more difficult) to use some of the items that we had special ordered through Krissy and have been hoarding ever since.
As I said, the first part of the twist was very easy: I've been wanting to scrap this image for several years and the Prima Firefly paper from the January Whimsy kit was perfect for this sweet photo of my mother's aunts and (maybe, no one is sure) her mother.
The other twist was a bit harder. It's not that I didn't have anything from Swirlydoos Special Orders, but the key word is "hoard", right?
Well, with gritted teeth, I took these out and primed it all with a bit of gesso. The frame was easy to color, but the foliage was not. I wanted to use watercolors, but the results were not so good. I added a bit of gelatos and that was worse. Finally, I reached for a bit of mist; a healthy dose of Shimmerz seems to be exactly what I needed; not what I first had in mind, but I do like the result.

Ooh, Peggy, this is a favorite! LOVE that background pp and the way you used part of the fence stencil above the framed pic. Like how they are all looking in different directions. Sounds like you went through an ordeal, but the results are well worth it!
