RUB-ONS---> Making your own...even better!   (5 comments, 1398 views) Wednesday, 26 April 2006
Yes, you can make your own rub-ons using a transparency and an inkjet printer. If you want a better print image, use the Perfect Printing Pouch in the process.

1. Design your Rub-On in WORD (or another word processing program).
2. If your Rub-On is words, make the text reverse or mirror image.
3. Apply the Perfect Printing Pouch to a non-inkjet transparency.
4. Print on the transparency with normal and paper settings.
5. Put the printed side down onto your project and rub the back with a pospsicle stick. Be careful not to slide or move the transparency once it is in position.

The rub-on will probably look somewhat faded or crackly but that's cool, too.
(It will be a lot crisper than if you didn't use the pouch.)

Yes, this is similar to printing on a transparency for a title, but if you want to keep the transparency, you need to spray it with a fixative. (Gently brush off the powder before spraying if the powder concerns you.)

do you have any pics of this?

ok so first question, you can't use one of the special transparencies? (i'm guess no, that those are the non-inkjet transparency.
two, do you let it dry? how long?

First answer: For a rub-on, you do not want to use an inkjet transparency as it is designed for the ink NOT to rub off. (NOTE: When you don't want it to rub-off, if you use the Perfect Printing Pouch, you can use a non-inkjet transparency as long as you spray it afterwards with a fixative.)

Second answer: for a rub-on, you can use it immediately if you want. For printing and not rubbing off, you can wait for it to dry or try spraying it with the fixative immediately and that will make it dry.

Here's the BLURB--but for more info, visit http://www.scraperfect.com or email me at info@scraperfect.com.

The REVOLUTIONARY product which makes printing perfect on vellum, shiny & textured paper, transparency films, ribbon, twill tape, and other difficult surfaces!

Typically, when printing on vellum or other shiny surfaces, ink can smear and takes a long time to dry. Ink on ribbon and on other absorbent surfaces tends to bleed. To combat this, simply wipe The Perfect Printing Pouch onto the printing surface before printing to release the fine powders. The powders bond the ink to the surface and also contain a drying agent so the ink will dry almost instantly.  When stamping, it prevents embossing powder from sticking where it's not wanted, too!

No more smearing, bleeding or resisting. It’s that easy.

The Perfect Printing Pouch from ScraPerfect makes printing easy and perfect on vellum, shiny papers, textured cardstock, transparencies, twill tape, ribbon, muslin fabric, shrink plastic, wood, postage stamps, mulberry paper and other difficult surfaces. The print quality is crisp and the ink dries quickly with different inks including ink jet printers, water based and permanent markers, gel pens and stamp dye pads.

The pouch now comes in two styles... THE ORIGINAL and the new  STRAP-N-TAP, designed for treating larger surfaces and whole sheets of paper faster and easier. It's perfect for wedding invitations and baby announcements. The MSRP is $5.95 for THE ORIGINAL and $9.95 for the Strap-n-Tap.
