My dad died Monday evening. We had a difficult relationship. As the eldest, I was "the reason" my parents married in the 50s. My dad was abusive and as a child I remember some terrible fights. He drank a lot, and he wasn't very nice when he was drinking. I was the "different" kid - out of three. My brother and sister were athletic and I loved to read and play with my dolls. Wow - it's hot in CT. The temperature is about 86 degrees, but it feels like at least 100! The humidity stinks!!! There's much to be said for place with low humidity - but CT is not one of them. Silly me, I keep wanting to move down to North Carolina or Virginia - pretty dumb for someone who can't stand the humidity. I do love the ocean, though. I haven't been to the beach in many years (probably 6 or more). I only live about 15 miles from the ocean, but I can't drive... and no one else w...

It's raining in CT. Not just a little rain, mind you, but 3 or so inches... sigh. Can't figure this weather out. I"m afraid to plant my garden - with the humidity and terrible heat of last week, now the drenching rain... poor plants. Bought 6 tomato plants, 12 pepper plants, 100 onions, have about 18 garlics, 2 new garden plants, and they are all just sitting here. I have to make a raised bed for my veggies - because our yard is a filled-in quarry... who knew? So - some spots are caving in...

Well, Mother's Day is over. I hope you all had a lovely day. I sure did. My 2 sons are adults. One lives with me in CT, the other lives in NH with a lovely young lady who likes to be called by her middle name, Ruby. I love it! My older son called me from work and we talked for about an hour.
