Oh gracious... this just hit me today while I was sitting at work twiddling my thumbs. I HATE being at work and having nothing to do because all it makes me think about is all the things I could be doing at home. I read it over and noticed I come across as a bit lazy!!! ha ha!!
JOURNALING: Confessions of a not so ambitious career woman.
Notice the shoes. I hate them. I hate wearing them. To me they symbolize a lot more than just fancy feet. They represent fancy footwork. If Iíve learned nothing else in the past couple of years regarding employment, itís this... I am better suited for the corporate world than the small office environment. But to be flat out honest... I donít want to be in either place. Iíd rather be out and about seeing life and recording it through words, through pictures. I want to expand my mind with things that totally fascinate me. And if I want to do that in my pajamas or shorts and t-shirt then so be it. I donít think that skirts or heels or pantyhose makes you a better worker. They just make you wish the day was over so you could go home and put on some comfortable clothes. And the office gossip... totally despise it. It serves no purpose other than to hurt someone else. My rule of thumb is ďif theyíll talk to you about someone else, then theyíll talk to someone else about you.Ē And Iím not interested in climbing any ladder, much less a corporate one. And bad managers... Iíve had my fill. Most of mine have just been after a higher paycheck. I really have no interest in making friends, but I do enjoy being friendly. Seriously, I just want to go, do my work, collect my paycheck and go home to what truly matters. Iím not really interested in giving up any more of my time other than 8-5. After that, the time belongs to me and my family. But I take my place among the commuters Monday through Friday. I get angry with the people who run me over because they are running late. And then I pray for grace when there are those mornings when Iím running late (which are not very often.) I do all this so I can go and position myself in a cube farm and learn some very useful information that actually pays the bills.
Signed, Me - the one who would rather be wearing slippers and taking afternoon naps.
