Description: This is a page I did today on my birthday, in honor of my Mom who really deserves the credit, not me. The photo is of her in her youth and how I imagine her now.... not racked with sickness and pain.
The Bible verse, which was a favorite of hers ( though, I didn't know until later), reads;
For lo the winter has passed,
the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds
is come, and the voice of the
turtle (turtledove)is heard in our land;
The fig tree putteth forth her
green figs and the vines with
the tender grape give a good smell.
Arise, my love, my fair one
and come away.
Song of Solomon 2:11-13
When I was little and later on, I always heard my mom quote the part about the " voice of the turtle", never really knowing what it meant, or what it was from except that I knew it was from the Bible.
Later, when she was ill and after she passed away, I looked it up and was awe stricken when I read it in it's entirety, because it was exactly how she died.
She was on a respirator and we had to... pull the plug, if you will. I don't like saying it this way.
The nurse attending her kept trying to encourage us to "let her go" and even did a beautiful thing by opening the window to her room to let her spirit fly away.
well..... I won't say anymore, the verse speaks for me.
