I've been wanting to do this LO for a long time. This 2 page LO is a message to my sons about things that I have learned in my life that are valuable lessons I want to pass on to them. I did my journaling first (in a notebook) and then when I was finished, I categorized each topic or lesson and made tags for each. The tags are: Love, Change, Health, Happiness, Experience, and Rules. The journaling is so long, I don't really want to type it here but if you click on this layout and then when it is focused in it's own screen, LEFT CLICK and it will zoom in. You can continue to zoom using the cursor provided. (This works for all pictures on this site.)
The picture on the left is my son, Jackson (3.5 years) and on the right is Desmond, (3.5 months). I truly hope they will read this over and over as they grow older and I hope they will listen, I think this advice will make thier lives a little easier.
Techniques: All of the tags started off plain white. The "Love" tag, I copied out of a book, the rest are my own designs. For the "experience tag, (purple) I chalked it purple, added a stamp and colored the stamp with colored pencil. The letters are hand-painted. For the "Health" tag, I covered it with ppr, sanded it, and added flwrs. For the word, "Health" I used a masking technique with alphabet stickers and then used paint and a brush to paint over them. I then peeled the stickers off. For the "Happiness" tag, I used a technique I love, STAMPING WITH WATERCOLOR PAINT!! It works with foam stamps (see LO title) and with clear/acrylic stamps too. You can do so many cool things! I used different shads of blue watercolor paint, brushed them onto a stamp one at a time and stamped several times to achieve a layered look with varied color intensity. I let it dry then painted the whole thing with stickles :) I handpainted the chipboard butterfly with MM paint and gave it a lavender stickles body.
The title of this LO is stamped using Watercolor paint and foam stamps and the border is done by hand with pen and markers. One word: fun!
