This is my lo for the March Scraplift the Person Before You Challenge. I chose to lift Sewflake's "Time with Papa" lo, which can be found here http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/548897/view/2958261/-1/80/1.html
This is a lo about my very first car, which my parents bought for me at the end of my senior year of hs so that I could have it to drive to college. My dad paid $1000 for the 7+ year old car and I was thrilled to have it.
I decided to go girly-girl with my lo, since it was MY car. :D I tried to stay as close to Sewflakes original lo as I could, since I loved all the details in her lo.
I wanted to go with the ledger pp, since it was about the car bought for me. I fussy cut the blue pp strip to use in place of the border punched on the original. I stamped a lot of the car info onto the ledger pp. I loved Sewflakes punched border on her lo, so I did a punched border on my green pp. I added the floral pp and then used the red stitching of the orignal for inspiration and I hand stitched using red sewing thread, I tried to make it uneven like the original. then used the red sewing thread to couch stitch red crochet thread onto the ledger paper as a border around the green pp.
I really liked the flowers on the original, so I scoured my stash to see what I could find to give a similar look. I found the white flowers and used a black Zig pen to add the ink lines similar to the original. I wanted to use the b/w twine for the stems, so I handcut some stems from white cs and adhered them to the page where I wanted the flowers, then I adhered the twine on top of the cs stems using liquid adhesive. I used a ColorBox chalk ink stamp pad and "stamped" the stamp pad directly onto white cs to give me a basic leaf shape in a green mottled look. I then took the Zig pen and sketched around the leaf shap, but it didn't look much like the original, so I loosely traced around it again, then added the veining and sketched over each line twice for the hand drawn look. I then cut out the leaf shapes and adhered them. I added the white flowers to the ends of the stems and adhered them with a mini brad through a colorful small flower for the flower centers.
My car journaling box is INCREDIBLY OLD (not quite as old as I am, but probably one of the first things I bought for scrapping!), I thought it would be cute oin this page. I added the blingy flowers to the tires, just for fun and added the little sign post.
I had an old sheet of lock and key stickers, so I took the key that most reminded me of my car key and added the eyelet sticker and eyelet to it and adhered it at the top of the page and added a ribbon "keychain".
