My four-year-old daughter, Alexia, telling me "sumpin"- as she does everyday!! The journaling reads:
I want to watch sumpin. How about Sesame Street or The Incredibles? Don't let Jessi pick; she always wants to watch Princess Stories! I want cheese, french fries, sausage, and apples with peanut butter for breakfast, and when I'm done I want to plant my apple seeds in your plant and watch them grow- it's ok, you can just vacuum. I want to draw. Can I get the glue, cut-scissors, and markers all by myself? And mommy, I don't want the colored paper in my drawer; I only like to draw on your white work paper so I can see my art. Give the colored paper to Jess. When I'm done drawing on your paper, you need to stample my work together because I want to make a book. I want to wear my camo shirt and jean skirt with my black Barbie tap shoes to school. Yes, in the snow; I promise I wont get cold. After school, I don't want to take a nap in my room, I only want to sleep on the couch and watch noggin with popcorn in my own bowl. I will save all of my popcorn kernels to bury in your plant. It's ok, you can just vacuum again. And mommy, I need to tell ya sumpin else, I want to play with play dough, but I don't want to clean it up when I am done; I can just brush it on to the floor, then you can just sweep it up. And mommy, I don't want to eat dinner, take a bath, or clean up my room; I'm too tired and my neck hurts! I want to lie down in your room and watch Sesame Street, oh yeah, it's not on that late, how bout The Incredibles with milk. And don't put my milk in the yellow cup, only the blue one. Make sure I have more than Jess! By da way, don't forget my Dumbo and baby blankets. Re-nem-er, it's not nice to wake people up when they are sleeping, so leave me alone when I fall asleep in your bed-I promise not to bodder you. Excuse me mommy, did ya hear me tell ya sumpin? Mommy?
