My immigrant Fenimore Ancestor. I did similar pages for the Fenimores between Stephen and the immigrant. There are no photos and just a few stories so I am probably not going to load them here.
There was one story I want to share. It was during the Revolutionary war. The British soldiers went to the home of a Fenimore ancestor, raided it, put all the furniture on the lawn and burned it and scattered the feathers from the mattresses over the lawn. They made the young daughter - she was but a small girl, dance for them. It made the father so mad he took off his Quaker coat and laid it on the fire and reportedly said, "Damn Quakerism, I will have my revenge." He is also said to have joined the continental army after that. Quakers have a non violence oath they take so maybe he felt he could have defended his property and family if he weren't a Quaker.
