The large black mat folds up to reveal journaling:
It all started with a visit to Les and the family. Amanda knew that I enjoyed making photo books with mats for the photos and, yes lots and lots of STICKERS! She told me her mom scrapbooked and that it was something I had to see. Well her mom came over with one HUGE scrapbook in tow. I was blown away! This lady did not scrap, she crated the most beautiful art and you could tell that she put tons of love into each page. With my eyes already as big as moons she pulled out the big guns! Her tool box and embelli kits and showed me oh so many possibilities. Then she told me there were even stores dedicated to scrapbooking.-- I HAD NO IDEA! Can you believe that?
Without even starting I was hooked. I could hardly wait to get my very own tools and toolbox. But, it wasn't and still isn't ALL about the fluff and stuff (Oh but, don't get me wrong the fluff and stuff is FUN- I mean what scrapbooker isn't adicted to product? And who doesn't get a rush over new goodies at their LSS or a beautiful new digi kit online?- I certainly do.)
Nope, It's about preserving the day to day, the funny, and sad, and extraordinary, and everything inbetween in a way that screams I LOVE YOU! to my family. It's about cherishing my family, celebrating life, preserving our memories and yes, CREATING!
*I created the black square buttons by sanding and painting some chipboard black, cutting it into small squares, stamping them with hearts, and punching button holes.
