How and When
Submitted by: Ivoryrose
Author: Jennifer Tucker
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday I held you so small?
Where is the baby with the cherub like face because in my heart he fills a place?
Oh how I miss that toothless grin, please can I go back just to hold him again?
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday you were so small?

Just Me and My Dad you loved to read, just one more time you would plead.
Finding the spider was your favorite part, all the pages you knew them by heart.
The book is now tattered and faded with time, but the memories will always be mine
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday I held you so small?

I remember you running in your black cape and mask, who you are today I would ask.
I’m Batman is what you would say, oh how you loved to make believe play.
The cape and mask have long since gone; you’re no longer Batman but almost grown.
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday I held you so small?

Nobody told me the time would fly so fast, because if I knew I’d have made all the little things last.
I used to call you my little man, oh how I loved holding your small hand.
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday I held you so small?

If could go back to watch you run and play, I know wouldn't want to stay.
I would hold you while and with a smile, I’d tell you I’m proud of the person you are today.
You are growing up so fast; but I have the memories of the past, and in my heart they’ll stay.
How and when did you get so tall, because only yesterday I held you so small?
