"FIFTY YEAR CLASS REUNION"

WE STARTED OUT AS FRESHMEN IN 1954
AT WAYNE COUNTY HIGH,
WE SOON GRADUATED AFTER FOUR YEARS
TELLING ALL OUR CLASSMATES GOODBYE.

THE FIRST SUMMER WERE OUT OF SCHOOL
WE LOST A DEAR CLASS MATE,
THERE ARE NOW A TOTAL OF SIXTEEN GONE
ACCORDING TO THE LAST GIVEN DATE.

SOON WE HAD JOBS OR WENT TO COLLEGE
AS WE BEGAN A NEW LIFE - SOME FAR AWAY,
SOME OF US GOT MARRIED - HAD A FAMILY
KEEPING BUSY WITH PLANS FOR EACH DAY.

AFTER TWENTY YEARS WE MET AGAIN
THE YEARS WERE BEGINNING TO PASS,
WE ENJOYED THE GET-TOGETHER
SHARING MEMORIES THAT WOULD LAST.

WE HAD TWO MORE REUNIONS AFTER THAT
SHARING STORIES AND HAVING FUN,
THE BIG PICNIC AT MILL SPRINGS AT FORTY-FIVE
CHICKEN, COLE SLAW AND PICTURES IN THE SUN.

WE JUST HAD A BIG REUNION AFTER FIFTY YEARS
IT WAS GOOD TO SEE ALL THAT CAME,
SOME OF US HAD CHANGED IN LOOKS
SOME OF US LOOKED ABOUT THE SAME.

A STRANGER WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR
SOMEONE WE HAD NOT SEEN IN YEARS,
WHO COULD THAT BE - THEY HAD REALLY CHANGED
THEN WE RECOGNIZED AND HUG AND SHED TEARS.

AT ELEVEN WE MET FOR SANDWICHES
SEEING EACH OTHER AGAIN WAS A DELIGHT,
WE SHARED A WONDERFUL SATURDAY AFTERNOON
EVERYONE LOOKING FORWARD TO A BIG NIGHT.

WE LIGHT A CANDLE IN MEMORY
FOR EACH ONE THAT IS GONE,
OUR FEELINGS FOR EACH OF THOSE
ARE STILL VERY VERY STRONG.

EVERYONE COULD NOT MAKE IT - ONLY TWENTY NINE
WE LISTENED TO MUSIC FROM 1958,
TOOK PICTURES - SPENT TIME TOGETHER
ATE A MEAL AND STAYED RATHER LATE.

WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO SEE EACH OTHER
WITH THE HELP OF A NAME LABEL,
IN CASE WE CHANGE IN ANOTHER COUPLE YEARS
TO ATTEND WE ARE STILL ABLE !!

IT IS A LOT OF WORK TO HAVE A REUNION
BUT SO NICE TO HAVE HAD ANOTHER ONE,
WE CONSIDER OURSELVES A SPECIAL CLASS
TOGETHER WE HAVE SO MUCH FUN.
