" 'SLITHER' THE SNAKE"

AS THIS LITTLE FELLOW DRAGGED ALONG
CRAWLING ON THE DUSTY GROUND,
HE SPOTTED A SMALL POND OF WATER
DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK-SEE AROUND.

AH, SURE DID LOOK VERY INVITING
WAS CLEAR BLUE AND QUITE COOL,
DECIDED TO WIGGLE RIGHT IN
AND SWIM AWHILE IN THIS POOL.

WASN'T LONG HE SPOTTED SOME LADIES
ALL GATHERED IN A GROUP,
HE GOT INTERESTED IN WHAT THEY WERE DOING
TOSSING A BALL INTO A GIANT HOOP.

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BALL WENT THROUGH THE AIR
AS HE WATCHED IT BEGAN TO FLOAT OVER HIS WAY,
SO 'SLITHER' DECIDED TO TAKE IT OVER TO THEM
MAYBE THEY WOULD ASK HIM TO STAY !

NOW THIS LITTLE SNAKE MOVES SLOWLY OVER
CERTAINLY DIDN'T MEAN ANY HARM,
BUT OH, HOW THOSE LADIES DID SCREAM !
THEY SET OFF THE LIFE GUARD ALARM.

GUESS BEING HOT AND TAKING A SWIM
WASN'T MEANT FOR HIM TODAY,
HE'D HAVE TO LEAVE THIS PERFECT PLACE
LET THE LADIES CONTINUE TO PLAY.

LOOKS CAN BE QUITE DECEITFUL
JUST A HARMLESS LITTLE SNAKE,
ONLY WANTED TO ENJOY SOME WATER SPORT
AND PERHAPS A FRIEND HE MIGHT MAKE.

ONE LADY LOOKED AWFULLY MAD
WHAT IF THEY WANTED TO CHOP OFF HIS HEAD ?
SNAKES CAN'T GO INTO PUBLIC POOLS
THEY MIGHT END UP - DEAD !

SO OFF THROUGH THE GRASS
'SLITHER' MOVED VERY SLOW,
LOOKED BACK AT ALL THE LADIES HAVING FUN
BUT IT WAS TIME FOR HIM TO GO.

IF BY CHANCE YOU HAPPEN TO SEE 'SLITHER'
BETTER JUST LET HIM TRAVEL ON HIS WAY,
YOU MIGHT JUST WAVE AND SAY HELLO
'CAUSE HE MIGHT NOT BE FEELING HAPPY TODAY.
