"HUGS AND KISSES"

THERE ARE MANY KINDS OF KISSES
THEY ARE ALL PRECIOUS AND AGREE WITH ME,
THERE ARE GOOD-BY KISSES WHEN IT'S TIME TO LEAVE
THESE ARE FROM GRANDCHILDREN YOU SEE.

BUT THEN THERE ARE KISSES
FROM A PUPPY DOG - THESE ARE YUCKEE,
THOSE LITTLE WET TONGUES
I DON'T WANT TOUCHING ME !

BUT CHILDREN LOVE TO RECEIVE
DOGGIE KISSES AND OFTEN GIVE THEM BACK !
AS AROUND THE YARD IN THEIR ARMS
THE LITTLE PUPPY THEY WILL PACK.

THERE ARE "NIGHT-NIGHT" KISSES
BIG HUGS ARE GIVEN AS YOU TUCK THEM INTO BED,
READ A STORY AND PULL UP THE BLANKET
THEY LAY BACK ON THE PILLOW - RESTING THEIR HEAD.

THERE IS THE LAST MINUTE KISS ON THE FOREHEAD
AS THE LITTLE ONE DRIFTS OFF TO SLEEP,
AFTER SAYING THEIR PRAYERS
ASKING GOD TO WATCH OVER THEM AND SAFELY KEEP.

THERE IS THE KISS YOU BLOW INTO THE WIND
LITTLE ARMS ARE WAVING AND SENDING KISSES BACK,
AS THE CHILDREN ARE LEAVING ON THE BUS
OFF TO SCHOOL WITH BOOKS AND BACK-PACK.

THERE ARE KISSES WHEN A CHILD
GETS SOME REALLY BIG BAD BOO-BOOS,
BUT WITH A KISS AND A MAGIC BAND-AID
THAT STOPS THE TEARS AND BOO-HOOS.

SO AS YOU KISS THE BOO-BOO
AND THE HURT GOES AWAY,
KNOWING THAT YOU MADE IT FEEL BETTER
THEY ARE SOON READY TO GO BACK AND PLAY.

A KISS, A HUG AND SOME LOVING
ALL GOES A LONG WAY,
THESE FAST HEALING SCRATCHES AND HURTS
THEY CAN'T EVEN FIND THE NEXT DAY.

ALL CHILDREN WANT TO KNOW YOU CARE
AS THEY CRAWL UP AND CUDDLE IN YOUR LAP,
AS YOU KISS THOSE LITTLE NOSES
THE CHILD FEELS SAFE - DRIFTS OFF TO TAKE A NAP.

THEN THERE ARE THE KISSES
I LIKE BEST OF ALL,
THOSE WITH HUGS THAT JUST SAY
I LOVE YOU, GRANDMA !
