Mother
Submitted by: Buttercup
Author: Sharon Froese
When I was little you, my mother
Had to do everything for me
You fed me, changed me, brushed my hair
And scrubbed the dirt from my knees

I got a little older but I
Still needed you just as much
To help me with my homework
And for advice and such

Then one day I moved away
But I still needed you, mother
For you became a friend to me
And you still loved me like no other

I got married and became a mom
What kind of mother would I be?
I try to follow your example
And love my kids like you loved me

I know I don't always say to you
The words you long to hear
But in your heart still you know,
"I love you, Mother, dear"

Of all the things you've taught me
One thing I'll remember to the end
To have a mother is to be loved
To have a mother is to have a friend
