"Sunset"

I thought of you my darling
As I watched the sunset fade
As with midnight blue and velvet
Softly fell the evening shade

And I thought of how the darkness
So often surrounds our life
And the pain and all the sorrows
You have tasted as my wife

Twas so black soon, total blackness
Like the deepness of a cave
Then almost was I despairing
Till returned hope like a wave

For the truth is that the darkness
Only lasts a little while
In a few short hours sunshine
Will return with its bright smile

So despair not gentle lover
For our way will soon be clear
And we two will go together
Walking forward without fear.
