I have been scapping for 9 years now, off and on with my decorative painting (which I use for scrapping too), and my new love of learning to quilt. However, I have only been to one Scrap, so have learned by my own uses of paper, and very few embellishments but for eyelets and brads. I just started using buttons, but this showed me a new awareness of their use.
Wow was I ever surprised at would could be used to make the pages pop. This book really taught me alot I hadn't realized about using strips of paper. embellishments, small scraps of paper, etc.
I always mat my photos, and now realize that cutting out the background completely, can in some cases allow you to place rows of similar photos and therefore having it almost like a video!
All in all, I am very pleased with the book. Learning how to "lift" from someone else's page and make it your own, as well as new techniques.
I received it free with my other purchases, which makes it even more special!
I read this book in just two nights and it's now filled with sticky notes poking out of almost every page! The spiral binding makes it easy to lie flat on the work surface for reference, and the color photos are wonderful. Each page shows three layout sketches with more creative ideas than you can shake a chipboard monogram at. The six chapters each tackle a different aspect of design and the ideas are very creative. It takes a balance to inspire us to think bigger, yet not be so far out that we'd never try a certain layout. These three women got it just right.
I bumped up my order to get this book free, thinking that it would be worth the extra product. Today I sat down with it and I was wrong. When I get a decent book, I will fold corners of pages over that spark my interest. I didn't read a word of the book and found myself turning one page after another over. I found several ideas for layouts and have been stamping since 1986 and scrapping since around 1990. I doubt I'd recommend it for the $19.99 full price, but it is worth maybe $12-15 to me. For free, it was an excellent deal. Thanks scrapbook.com.
I have many scrap related books, but this one will be very helpful. I really enjoyed the focus on the different key areas of layouts and how to copy "lift" the elements for my own layouts. I am now looking at other layouts in a whole different way and it has opened up my mind to so much. I always thought I had to try and copy something I liked exactly, but now see how to use just some ideas to make the layout my own. Photos are clear and vibrant and the pages are sturdy and well bound. This book should hold up to repeated use on my scrap table.
I am a relatively new scrapper and bought this book to learn and to use it for ideas. I took it to a scrapbooking girls weekend last month and everybody raved about the book. So I bought a copy for one of them for her birthday so she would have her own copy - which she was quite thankful for.
If you are new to scrapbooking or want a handy tool for page layout ideas then this book is a MUST.
Before reading this book I thought a lift was getting as close as possible to the original layout. Now I really see what the authors mean by "lifting" a title, layout, color scheme, embellishment, etc. Now I can look at a layout in the gallery and lift an aspect of it without giving it up if I can't reproduce the layout exactly. I'll be spending a lot more time in the gallery now.
I enjoyed reading and viewing this book. I doesn't have a lot of words (Which I don't think you need) but it has a lot of pictures, concepts and good ideas (which is what you need in a scrapbook how to book). It have me a way to plan my scrapbook and other projects. Kudos to the authors and other artists in this book. Please make more idea books.
I've been a scrapaholic for over a decade, and seen many trends come and go. I love that this book is about adapting layouts, not just trends. What ever supplies you have, you can find a layout in this book to use them AND showcase your photos. You'll be inspired by any page that the book falls open to.
I've really enjoyed this book. I don't buy idea books generally, but I liked the idea of it transposing different pages to fit my style and themes. This book shows how to do that. I love the ideas and the bright color pages. Definitely going to enjoy using this book and would recommend it to my friends.
I liked this book far more than I expected. I've been scrapbooking for 5 years, but I am always looking for new ideas and this book gave me several. I like the concept of "lifting" and the book is beautifully crafted. Got a great idea for my daughter's high school graduation page.
This was an AMAZING book! It gave me hours of ideas and creativity sparks. That book is now an official part of my Scrapping Tools, that is at my side everyday, when I am scrapping. Thank you very much, for such a wonderful book! Now I have even more inspiration when I am scrapping.
I absolutely love this book. I don't think I would have purchased this book, if Jill hadn't offered it free to her customers with their purchase. Thanks to Jill, I received a book that is now my favorite. I'll never look at a layout or card the same way again!
Although I'll be honest to say that I haven't read this book in it's entirety, I skipped around most of the pages and loved viewing all the printed layouts. Really makes you think out of the box with "scrap lifting" and that has to be one of my very favorite passions!
I had become less than excited to scrapbook lately. With the "Lifted Idea Book" I am really anxious to finish some projects and begin others. This book has stimulated my creative ideas so now all I have to do is have a little more time to GO!
I love this book.......I was at a complete standstill ....total block then in the mail this wonderful book. I have been able to complete one travel scrapbook from 2009 and am on to the next. Thank you for all the great ideas.
This book was the hit of a recent scrapbook retreat. Everyone wanted to borrow it, so much so that I wasn't able to use it myself. If you are looking for layout ideas this is the book for you!
I'm new to digital scrapbooking (well, new to scrapbooking. Period.), and I love this book!!!! I can "lift" the layouts easily and make them my own creations. This book has excellent ideas!
As a fairly new scrapper and not a very creative person this really helped me put ALOT into perspective. Maybe reading and re-reading will help me to put lay outs together a little easier!
This book is one of the best I've seen to really get you inspired. I've already started a project and have ideas for many more. This is a book every scrapbooker should have.
Awesome! Clean & simple scrap booking. Fantastic designs! Thanks for bringing us a book that isn't loaded with fussy designs & pages that costs a small fortune.
This book is well made, well planned out and well written. The bright colors and spiral binding make it the kind of book I want to carry all over the house with me. I have reread and reread this book over and over, but some of the ideas still have me a bit stumped. There are plenty of awesome tips and ideas to use, though, and I'll probably be pulling it out for inspiration for years to come, even if the lo's featured in it seem a bit outdated.
I bought this for my sister. I love to scrapbook, and I rarely have trouble thinking up designs. My sister is another story. She has come to dislike scrapbooking (and we're committed to making several more scrapbooks for family members). So this book should jump-start her creativity. I thumbed through it and think it should give her plenty of ideas, whether she copies the layouts or they're just a form of brainstorming.
Not what I expected but still great for fresh, new ideas and techniques. In my opinion, geared for "simple" pages.....the techniques aren't difficult. Use a lot of brads and ribbons.
I always wanted to know what was meant by the word "scaplift''. This book explains how you can see a layout you love and then adapt it for your pictures and your individual style.
i was considereing buying this book for awhile, then this site had a free offer with purchase so i was thrilled. if looking for up to the second trends then this book is not for you. (a lot of the lo styles sort of say "2005-2006" to me personally.) it's great for a simple scrapper or those interested in learning how to lift los. i have a friend interested in starting scrabooking and i will show them this book, it has good tips for beginner and intermediate scrapbookers.
This is an interesting way to get ideas. I am going to have to go back through this book. On, first reading it is impressive. It should be a great help in evening ideas out if your are stuck and need a friendly push in the right direction. Lifted Idea Book, will make a nice addition to a The Crafters library.
I have been scrapbooking for 10+ years and treat myself to books and magazines for inspiration and education. I was so looking forward to reading through this book when I ordered it and had high expectations based upon the description, experience of the authors and other product reviews. When it arrived, I was underwhelmed. While I appreciate the concept of LIFTED and enjoyed looking at the layouts (who doesn't?), I gained very little in terms of education as it is too elementary for me personally. Of course the layouts are nice to look at but also very basic in technique as well and as turned each page I expected the book to get better but it just didn't for me. I would however recommend this book for anyone that is starting out or that has not taken layout or design classes from local scrapbooking stores.
The premise behind Lifted is "scraplifting" (hence the "Lifted" title) using Michelle's L-I-F-T-E-D formula. Michelle, Ange and Dayna show you, through adorable and idea-packed layouts, how to take and entire layout idea (or aspects of it) and come up with a whole new idea that's your own creation and approach.
I started turning the page corners down on ideas I liked as I read the book but stopped after about 12 pages when I noticed most of the pages were dog eared.
In my opinion, this is a must have for those new to scrapbooking and those who have been scrapbooking for years.
High quality paper. Great color. Spiral bound so pages lay flat and turn easily.
Love, love, love this book
I am always looking for ways to get better and better at scrapbooking. And my SGF thought of me to include this in my bday goodies. I have been missing my stop reading this on the bus the last few days.
It has some great pointers in here and I am a big fan of scraplifting so this is perfect! love it!
Thanks Iffy for the recommendation!!!!!
I'm not sure I would buy this book, but it is well put together and is useful for ideas about layouts. Coming from the direction of lifting other's ideas in grids is not a new one and with the wealth of layouts on this website and other's I don't know if its cost effective.
