Bio: I have been married to my college sweetheart for 20+ years. We have two children: an 19-yo daughter and a 14-yo son. We are raising our family in the house in which my husband grew up. We have a rat terrier named Lacey, an orange tabby named Cheddar, and a miniature pony named Joe. In March 2007, my daughter brought home a puppy and named him Mio. My Lacey didn't like the competition at first, but she has taught him who is "top dog" and now tolerates him. Mio has outgrown Lacey. He now towers over her by about 5 to 6 inches!

Katie has diabetes and is insulin dependent. She uses a pump to control her blood sugar. Kevin has muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair dependent. He has a power chair that gives him much more independence than he had when he used a manual chair. Both of my children are well-rounded, independent, friendly, and compassionate. My husband and I have tried hard to teach our children that our trials should make us stronger, not more dependent. The children never let their situations get the best of them. They are both active in school, church, and community activities. My Katie graduated from high school in May 2007, and is now an honor student in college. She is majoring in broadcast journalism. Kevin started high school this year and seems to be adjusting well. After having major surgery this summer, he was quite worried about the transition, but he has found his niche.

My 49-year-old husband had a heart attack in August 2006. We had absolutely no warning. We got him to the emergency room quickly and they got him stabilized. The cardiologist in Tupelo found one artery that was 90% blocked and he put in a stent. He now takes his meds EVERY day and eats right. We are all eating right with him. We want to keep him as long as God will let us have him. Ken is my best friend, my champion, my hero. I love him more today than I did all those years ago when we met and fell in love. And it was love at first sight for me. I knew on our first date that we would marry. We dated for four months, then eloped. Now here we are 20+ years later - still married and in love.
