Bio: After living in NJ for 50 years, my husband, George & I moved to NC in 2004. All 3 of our children had moved to Charlotte the year before, but I left the rest of my family behind. I miss them & the church I grew up in, where I had been the organist & choir director for 18 years. Since moving here, I've made some wonderful friends (1 of them is a "Jersey girl!). I got started scrapbooking when my oldest daughter got married on a shoestring & couldn't afford a photographer. I plunged in & decided to create a wedding scrapbook for her & my new son-in-law. It's probably not that good, but for a first attempt, I'm proud of it. All my friends thought it was great, & my daughter loves it! I was hooked. The arrival of my first grandchild - Alyson Taylor - clinched it. Now, I'm working on an 8x8 scrapbook about her first year. I've also put all our photos from 30 years of marriage into chronological order - many were in those old "magnetic" style albums - and I'm creating pages that trace our family history beginning with our honeymoon. I've got 3 years done, so far. To keep it fresh I'm also doing pages for recent events & working backwards. My second daughter is getting married in Sept., & we all went to pick out her wedding gown. I got some great pictures of her & her sister.
Since I started scrapbooking, I find myself staying up late working on layouts & perusing magazines and books for ideas & advice. None of my friends seems interested in sharing this new passion of mine, other than to "admire" my own work. That's why I'm glad I found this site. Now I have to figure out how to go about connecting with fellow scrappers. I could use some advice & encouragement from experienced scrapbookers.
