Bio:
1/08 - Hi there! I'm a 39-year-old newspaper reporter and part-time grad school student living in beautiful western New York with my bf, Curtis, and his 7-year-old son, RJ. We also recently got a beagle puppy, Lady, who is mommy's baby. I've been scrapping nearly two years and have amassed enough product to open a store! At this point I'd call myself an intermediate scrapper, but I still have lots to learn. Until recently I had no real interest in ever being published, but now I think it'd be cool to see RJ's picture in a magazine. He'd think it was cool too!
My scrappy style doesn't really have a name, I guess. My pages typically start with a cs background, layered pp, homemade transparencies and a little ephemera thrown in for good measure. Chipboard, rubons and brads often make an appearance on my pages as well. And I ink edges like it's my job. I have recently had the good fortune of joining a talented group of ladies here for a circle of friends/critique group called For Scraps Sake, and it's so much fun.
I haven't started a BOM yet, but hope to this year. I've finished two albums for RJ that began with photos of when I met my boys to when RJ turned six. I'm currently working on his six-year book and have just a couple months' worth of photos to go until that's finished. I completed a book for Curtis' mom last year, a mini book for my sister and a mini book for my niece. I'm also hoping to get started on a heritage album for my parents. If only there were more hours in the day!
I would describe myself first and foremost as sarcastic and clumsy, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I'm loyal, trustworthy and a hard worker, but I love my lazy days as well. I never used to be a huggy, lovey-dovey kind of gal...until I met Curtis. I've been rich, I've been poor, I've been happy, I've been sad, I've been burned and I've picked myself back up again. I have no regrets because I believe that if everything in my life hadn't happened in the exact way it did I wouldn't be in this place right now. And this place is a pretty wonderful place to be. I'm loved and I love, so it's all good.
Some of my non-scrappy loves include: Reading (especially HP); Sims 2; cheesy PC and/or PS2 games; biking; walking; salty snacks; wine; driving fast; holding hands with Curtis; living on the edge; cursing when nobody's around to hear me; veggie mei fun and fresh veggie spring rolls; my tattoos; comfy clothes; being on or near the water; my kitchen, even though I don't cook; sunsets, thunder storms; and leaving work knowing I finished everything I set out to do for the day.
I finally have a blog: http://halcyondream.blogspot.com
