    I am impressed!!!!!

Ok, I have been trying to not get something just because a YouTube video makes it look so good. I even held off on this for awhile because I didn't think I wanted the 12 inch as I am not a bling-type person on my scrapbook pages... BUT I finally caved and got the 6" because I do like bling on my holiday cards. Having been so disappointed a few years ago that my green/red metallic cardstock I used for my Christmas cards shed it's metallic without much manhandling, I decided this was worth a shot. It is! I unboxed it and within a minute or two I was getting fantastic results on every test I ran. Then, because I had ordered the green and red foil, I remade that previous Christmas card using my laser printer, cardstock and embossing folder and it came out fantastic! I tried some masking techniques from the videos and tried some 3d items like candles & bells and it still impresses me! I am happy with the smaller MINC because it takes up less space on my electronics table. Getting the foils on sale cut the cost in half! And now I can get my cards done early!

  • 5 BIG stars!

I purchased the 12" Minc machine shortly after it was released, but I imagine they work much the same. Let me tell you...this is a well made machine. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be as good as it is....AC isn't known for high-quality tools or albums, so I was pleasantly surprised! It heats up quickly, and you are foiling in minutes right out of the box!
Another bonus is it works as a traditional laminator too! (Called AC to check!) I didn't own a heat laminator, so it was perfect for me.
The pre-made items from Heidi are adorable, and pretty well priced, although I'm always trying to get them on sale! ;) As the other reviewer pointed out, it is worth it to purchase a laser printer if you don't have one to make your own goodies. I bought a Brother monochrome laser printer for $90 on Amazon. Well worth it to me, as it's super cheap to print documents, recipes, etc...much cheaper than my photo printer! Another great thing is the toner cartridges are cheap and last forEVA!
Anyway, sorry for rambling, but with my Minc and Silhouette Cameo, I can create pretty much anything I want! BUY it! You won't regret it (mine has a spot on my table with my Cameo ;))

  • Impressed

The day I saw a video on this product is the day I went to JoAnns and purchased it! I am totally satisfied and it works beautifully. I love the quality of the foil and all of the wonderful colors. I didn't have an laser printer but it was worth purchasing one so I could make my own projects to foil. Heidi makes wonderful projects that are ready to foil as well. I recently discovered minc sheets also made by Heidi Swapp. These are perfect if you don't own a laser printer. I love my minc machine!!

If you have problems turning it on....

I am so thrilled with my mini Minc! When I first plugged it up and turned it on it wouldn't work....BUT the awesome support team at Scrapbook.com emailed me back and said that some of the machines had the power buttons backwards so instead of the "O" being on the "-" is the on setting. So, if you have trouble getting yours to come on try that ;)

Questions & Answers
  • I have heard that there is a odor when using the Minc that lingers. I have asthma and I can't use anything that has an odor.   By: isabellebrown (07-Nov-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • I have noticed a faint door when I used it, but it was only while it was still hot, and I had my face quite close to the folder at the time. I don't think it would affect your asthma unless you're super sensitive. By: TavarNinja (26-Dec-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Hi! Does anyone know if I am able to use my mini machine with the 12 inch foil?   By: User (20-Oct-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • I buy the 12" foil because it actually is pretty cheap on sale and is a better buy. I then cut the foil to fit my image and put it in the folder and run it thru! By: menardkd (21-Oct-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • Does anyone know the dimensions of the paper you can feed into the mini? I know the width is 6 inches wide - but I've been looking and looking to see how long it will handle. I want to make invitations, and the design I did is 3x8 (ish) -- I was wondering if I could cut the 12x12 feeder folder down to run through the mini. I'm guessing it probably will :) but I would prefer to buy the right size the first time! Thanks in advance.   By: iscrapky (18-Sep-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Hi, your idea for cutting down the large folder down to use for your 3x8 design will work well. That's what I do as I don't need a large Minc. The mini is great for my needs. Your design can be as long as your feed folder so that's 12". By: menardkd (21-Oct-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • The feeder that comes with the Minc mini is 6 ΒΌ by 12. I just fed a piece 5 x 8 through and it worked fine! By: misbehavin2 (19-Sep-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • I also have one more question that I forgot: Could a person stamp an image with a rubber stamp and then add the foil? This is all so confusing for me. Thank You.   By: frazzeledkari (14-Aug-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • I use my stamps by stamping with versa mark then adding toner powder on top like you would use embossing powder. Bought the toner off ebay cheap works great. Remember to use powder first so that the toner doesn't stick to the paper where you dont want it. Love my minc By: harleygal2 (04-Jan-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • This is for Miyoko who could not find the Tim Holtz product .... it's actually Ranger's Sticky Embossing Powder .... you can go to the Ranger website and buy it from there, or an alternative product is Judikins Sticky Stuff Embossing Powder. • I have three questions: 1.) Does a person have to use the specialty paper from Heidi Swapp to get the foil affect on cards? 2.) Can a person just foil normal cardstock or a punched out item from regular cardstock?? 3.) Does this come with an instruction manual? (I know, dumb question, but just need to know...don't want to burn my place down to the ground when trying to use it....you know.....)   By: frazzeledkari (14-Aug-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I do not know about the heidi Swapp paper. The cardstock that I use (several inexpensive kinds) has to have toner on it in order for the foil to stick. I have purchased Heidi Swapp foil and Deco foil and used it with my designs that I stamped and then copied the design with my laser printer. I use an inexpensive laminator to adhear the foil to the toner paper. The slicker the paper the more the design shows up. I also saw today that there is a pen from We are memory keepers? I think this is the company. It heats up with batteries and you use their foil to write words or copy outlines of designs. I am interested in trying it but, I am not sure you have to use their foil to make it work. If I purchased this appx $20 heat pen, I would try it on my regular foil.
For all I know, this company's foil might have laser toner as one of it's properties. It needs more research but, just thought I'd mention it as a possiblity. By: miyiko (14-Aug-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • Yes, you can use regular cardstock as long as it has had the image done in the laser printer using toner (not ink -- big difference) -- it doesn't have to be pricey cardstock because the surface design might affect the foil, but you can use store brands that Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Joann's stocks and the quality is not impacted; To foil something using a Minc, you need to have an image on it that has been created from toner, not ink. However, it does not have to be thru the laser printer. There is now a pen (or marker) that uses toner. So let's suppose your mother had beautiful handwriting and you wanted to foil it for an eye-popping design. She can write whatever on cardstock, let it dry and run it thru your Minc with foil and your Mom's handwriting is preserved for you... It's a Heidi Swapp brand pen. Only bought one, wished I had more! By the way, those paper and designs you can buy from Heidi Swapp are fine, but no, you don't have to use them. Lastly, the fastest way to learn about ANY aspect of your Minc is via YouTube! You don't need to have bought one to view them. There are a ton of them and that's how I made my decision to buy my Mini. And I have never had to heat mine up. The heat comes on as soon as I put a folder in there and then stops...
