      If you are referring to the long side of the ink pad, they go from top to bottom. Just remember to do the "cha-cha-cha" when inking up your stamp so that you get a blended look (see Jennifer Mcguire's YT video on Ombre Ink Pads). Oh, and I love them and in fact have all the colors! I hope this helps.
