  • Is this set an Archival Dye set or a pigment ink set? The product name, picture, and info don't agree. :)   By: lapis-skies (02-Jan-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

    • It's true, it's confusing because Colorbox makes a lot of the cat's eye style ink pads, which are so convenient, and most of them are either pigment or chalk. I'd be so happy if these are truly archival, since that generally means they won't smear if they get wet.

The difference between dye and pigment, mainly, is that dye ink pads dry fast and are usually transparent, while pigment inks are thicker, opaque, and stay wetter longer so that you can emboss with them. An exception to the rule are the Distress ink pads, which are dye, but stay wet long enough that they can be embossed with. By: lapis-skies (07-Jan-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you!
