    I'm a t!maholic

My name is Virginia and I’m a t!maholic. I’m a t!m holtz groupie. I love all things t!m, Mario, Michelle, the whole gang. There, I admit it. That being said, I must confess I am predisposed to being a little biased about anything related to t!m or his products.

Will you still trust me? I love t!m, but I also place great value in my limited resources and the value a product must bring to my scrapbooking and t!m addiction.

When t!m first announced his Vagabond, I watched his blog for months and months trying to get the first news of its availability. Finally, I saw that the Vagabond would soon be shipping and I did a preorder of my self-purchased Christmas gift. When it finally arrived, I actually took a picture of the package sitting on my doorstep when it arrived. I photographed every moment of its great unveiling. I took pictures of the actual box, pictures of the stickers….everything! I posted its unveiling on my fb page. I mean, doesn’t everyone take it to that extreme? True T!M groupies would do that, I assure you.

l love me some t!m but bottom line, I was anxious to know:
    • How well does it work?
    • Do I like working with it?
    • Will it work for my scrapbooking style and budget?

……and that my friends, is when the party began! I had ordered many of t!m’s dies for months in advance. They sat staring at me forlornly, unused for months waiting for its master (The Vagabond) to arrive. I also preordered a variety of materials that I’ve never used because he promised me it would cut cleanly and precisely. (He does talk to me directly in his videos, doesn’t he??) I was clearly ready to party like its 1999.

I made sure to have an audience watch me unveil it. I oohed and awed over the stickers. Yes, I’m easily entertained. OK, I also admit I watched a variety of his videos, CHA demos, etc., to see if I could find the exact placement of where he put the stickers so that I could place mine as close to his as possible. (He’s probably seeking a restraining order as I type this.)

Now, how well did it work? F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!! When he said it had a strong but quiet motor, he wasn’t playing. It cut through grunge board like a hot knife through butter. It cut multiple layers of fabric. It cut cork. Whatever my poor little t!m groupie heart desires…..it cuts! Embossing, oh my gosh! Using his texture fades produced some of the deepest and most detailed embossing you could imagine! Ok, you get it. I give it an A++ for how well it works.

Do I like working with it? A resounding, heck yeah I do. I do love the simplicity of it. If you understand the concept of making a sandwich to eat, then you already are a pro with a Vagabond. One other thing I really love is the versatility of being able to change the direction of the motor. Simplicity is important to me. I have another infamous electric cutting tool but it sits sadly in another room unused. For me, that product isn't a fit for me; perhaps, because I also can’t work my DVD player or sound system. (Too complicated for this menopausal woman.)

Will the Vagabond work for my scrapbooking style and budget? It definitely fits my style. While many other dies other than t!m’s will work with the Vagabond, his accompanying vintage inspired dies are my very, very favorite thing. It definitely fits my style. Budget? That’s relative. I spent a lot of money on the other product and its accompanying tools, only for it to sit lonely and unplugged in another room. It’s not that that the other product doesn’t work wonderfully, it’s that it doesn’t work with my style. I never knew that was something I needed to think through! For me, the Vagabond has good value because I use it.

Do I dare say the one itty, bitty, thing I have noted? My adorable little stickers don’t seem to want to adhere to the textured case. I’ll let my additional adhesives deal with that. Oh, and it appears that t!m has more than one Vagabond (duh!) as I have seen a slight difference in different videos and some were obviously prototypes. Oh well, maybe that will help t!m feel a little safer from me.

One final note, “t!m, IF YOU’RE READING THIS AND NEED A NEW STAFF PERSON, CALL ME!! I LOVE ARIZONA!!! …and I have this adorable little suitcase that will travel with me!” (wink, wink)

    Worth every penny.

I just received my Vagabond with my Scrap and craft supplies yesterday, fast delivery tru USPS international.Since I live in Asia I need a AC adaptor to operate it.
    Can't wait to use it!!!

When I open the box, I am so happy! It's more beautiful in person.
This Machine is absolutely beautiful and high end looking. The details, the metal parts and the design are very impressive.
It's smaller then I expected and very heavy.
Some might say this thing is too expensive, but in my view, it's the best die cut machine I have ever seen! <3 it.
    (Sorry for my english =/)

    My Vagabond

I recently attended a 4 day scrappiest and notched this machine on one ofnthe tables. I stopped and and asked her about the machine and she demonstrated what it does. As soon as I got home I went to my favorite scrapbook store and order one. I absolutely love it. Now I will start building my collection of dies and I can't wait to learn everything there is to this machine. Next year at scrappiest maybe someone will stop and ask me what is that thing, and I will be able to show them what it does and pass the enthusiasm on.

    A great value

I was really excited and a little apprehensive when I received the machine.
I have used only the fat Tim Holtz dies on the machine. I am loving it. I had to cut over 200 hundred oak leaves within a week's time and this machine made it so quick and easy to do. I have arthritis in my hands and griping the handle to crank the die cuts through the manual machine was getting rather difficult. Now all I have to do is push a button with my thumb.

  • Does not last

I bought a Vagabond several years ago but didn't use it much since I created in the family room and the noise bothered the TV watchers. Recently moved my crafting station to an upstairs bedroom so have been using the machine. After less than 200 cuts it just stopped working. It's not repairable so it's headed for the garbage and I'm going back to my BigKick. Disappointing since it is easier than cranking a handle.

  • Wasted my money

When I first got my vagabond, I loved it. It was so cute. Very heavy but oh well. It broke before I got much use out of it at all. Apparently they fail quite frequently and only 1 out of the four things that fail are fixable. I have a Big Kick now and am really pleased. A much better bang for my buck!

    VAGABOND TO THE RESCUE!!!!

My vagabond came to the rescue just in time. I had 100+ Christmas cards to make, and let me tell you this little beauty made it super easy. I was able to finish with all the cutting in a couple of hours. And my hand didn't hurt a bit. I now started with a few other little Christmas gift projects for my family and friends. And what makes this purchase even better it's that I got it at an AWESOME price. So in a way I am very glad I waited so long to buy it. My vagabond arrived very well packaged and very quickly. Overall I am very thrilled I finally got my vagabond.

  • You're going to love this machine!

I had a chance to witness this machine at a trade show this past summer. It cut and embossed grungeboard, grungepaper, cork, foam, cardboard, and mat board just to name a few things. It was so easy and effortless and so much more compact. When I put it up to our Sizzix Big Shot Express - which I almost broke by burning out the motor - this one has it beat hands down. Got to thank Tim and Sizzix for creating an electric machine that looks like it will hold up to almost anything we throw at it.

  • The Vagabond

I am a Tim aholic ,and waiting for all the new products to get to my hands on to. mh There not much to add what others have said, the vagabond is far and above all the othersthat are on the market. I have extream issues with my hands due to pain & arthritis. Once again I am back to scrapbooking, and tag making. It is worth every penny. If I could I would buy my best friend one because of the disabilities she is now experiencing.. BUY one if you can, you will not be sorry at all.
the only down side is (witch as already mentional) the stickers do not want to stick to the machine.
    Great job Tim.

    Merry Christmas!

My Christmas present to me from me! I haven't had much opportunity to "play" with my new toy yet. I also don't have a lot of dies either. However, when I opened the box & ran a couple of dies through (as well as embossing folders), I was one happy girl! Got this at the best price I've seen anywhere. Love it!!!
