Are you tired of your dies warping when you run them through your die cut machine? Now you can improve the performance of your Framelits, Thinlits, and Triplets dies with the Precision Base Plate by Sizzix! You just won't believe your eyes when you see how professional your cuts look with the precision die cutting of your chemically-etched, wafer-thin dies.

What's Included: One Precision Base Plate

Size: 10" x 6 1/4" x 1/8"

Compatible With: BIGkick, Big Shot, and Vagabond Machines (sold separately)

Compatible Materials:

  • Burlap
  • Craft plastic
  • Craft metal
  • Fabric
  • Aluminum
  • Canvas
  • Lightweight suede
  • Thin cork

Here's how it works! The metal side is meant to come in contact with the dies while the plastic side should not be used for cutting but contains helpful diagrams and instructions. The base plate is constructed of high-quality annealed steel and can cut through many different materials. You can cut through most intricate Thinlits dies with a single pass through your machine.

Please Note:

Do not use with Big Shot Foldaway or Big Shot Plus Machines – this will result in reduced cutting pad and die life. Also, do not use the Precision Base Plate with steel-rule dies as damage may occur.

Grab this plate today and worry no more about having to run your dies through your machine more than once and you'll love how clean and professional your intricate dies will look! What are you waiting for? Start your stress-free die cutting today with the Precision Base Plate!

Here's a sampling of what our amazing customers are saying about the Precision Base Plate:

Great Product

"I absolutely love this. I have several alphabet Sizzix Sizzlits that I have not used because they never cut completely. With this plate, I can use them again. No matter how intricate the die, it cuts beautifully when using this plate. And it works wonderfully when cutting hard-to-cut papers like Shimmer Sheets. I would say anyone who does a lot of die-cutting should have this product." -missphit243

Precision Base Plate - Why did I take so long to buy this!

"The Precision Base Plate has made my die cutting so much cleaner and quicker. It works first time, every time without having to run the die through my machine twice. The more intricate the die the better the plate works. An excellent product." - kmacdona09185

A Real Star

"The Sizzix Precision Base Plate for Wafer-Thin Dies is a real winner. I can't believe the difference this makes when cutting with the thin dies. I was making cards and having to run the dies and paper through my Big Shot a couple or 3 times to get good, clean cuts using slightly heavy cardstock. Partway through the process of making my die cuts the new precision base plate arrived and made things so much better." - marypatp

    Your New Best Friend!

The new generation of wafer-thin dies are getting more detailed (think Tim Holtz). The Precision Base Plate gives you an added advantage. It's like cutting with scissors since you have metal cutting against metal. You get a nice clean cut. An added bonus, your clear plates will last twice as long. Worth the wait; worth the money.

  • I did love it, but not now

I have had the Precision Base plate as soon as it came out.
I loved the fact it cut all of my intricate dies out without any wax paper or anything.
    It cut shimmer sheets easily.
Not one die left ANY kind of mark on the precision plate. You must make sure you put the writing on the plate DOWN onto your mag base or your base plate. With the steel side facing up, set up the cardstock, the die and the cutting pad and run through. Awesome.
BUT, lately, I've noticed a lot of metal filings getting into my fingers. Good thing there are tweezers on my table!
When I checked the thin die, I saw the filings coming off of the die!
I was using the palm tree and pail die set from ECD and the cutting edges of the palm trees were being flaked away.
I WANT to believe that it is a faulty die and I have contacted ECD about it.
But just be careful, if you notice filings in your fingers, check your dies.

    Precision Base Plate

This is just wonderful, now my dies are not getting worpped. I have a Big Shot Plus machine and unfortunately Suzzix does not make a precision Base plate to fit the machine. I don't understand why they are still selling the machines for people to get ripped off, because you can't get the supplies that go with the machine. I have called Suzzix company many a times, and I do not get anywhere. Its hard getting the cutting boards for the Big Shot Plus, but it will puzzels me why they can produce a machine like this with no supplies. That's like buying a car with no engine in it or an engine that will last for 3 months and can't get repairs or supplies. I think that stamping places like you to keep buy dies all the time and they are expensive.

I am sorry that I got the Big Shot Plus Machine, but I can't afford another just to get supplies easier. I guess that is America, getting ripped off.

    As described

I don't have any really intricate dies, so I can't speak to that; however, I am pleased with the way it improves the cutting of my fine word dies (Tim Holz). I look forward to trying it on some finely detailed dies.

Sizzix - Precision Base Plate for Wafer-Thin Dies

I love the plate ...and yes it cuts like a dream, but when someone said no cuts show on the plate I do not have the same results.
Am I doing something wrong......Thinlits or wafer thin dies....show up on plate. Using Magnet base or otherwise....same results! Does anyone have an answer for this?

Questions & Answers
  • Can you use the precision Base Plate in the Sizzix Bix Shot Plus? I am new to this machine & would like to know if anyone can help. Many thanks.   By: Northern california (09-Feb-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Why can't the Precision Base Plate be used with the Big Shot Foldaway or Sizzix Plus Machine?

      286

As we develop new machines we look to enhance the pressure to accommodate the performance required for more intricate designs. As a result, the Big Shot Foldaway has adequate pressure without the need for the Precision Base Plate, so we don't recommend its use with the Big Shot Foldaway. Use of the Precision Base Plate in the Big Shot Plus and Big Shot Foldaway will result in reduced cutting pad and die life. Do NOT use the Precision Base Plate in any machine with steel-rule dies as damage may occur. By: Onlyme001 (29-Aug-22) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I just bought the big shot plus- I read that you need a precision base plate for all wafer - thin dies. However, in the description of the extended magnetic base plate, it states that it is for wafer- thin dies....do I need both? Or will the magnetic plate work? The dies are expensive and I don't want to risk ruining them...   By: Margelicious (17-Dec-16) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. • From all of my research, the magnetic base plate, along with the precision base plate for wafer think dies. However, if you look on sizzix.com they have a set of keys...these keys tell you how thick every single possible emboss, cut, (thin or thick dies) needs to be. I am ordering this along with the keys to get an accurate measurement because i believe some super thin dies require the thin shim mylar or 2. THE SIZZIX KEYS IS THE TICKET FOR MEASURING THE THICKNESS OF EACH SANDWICH!!! I will try to find you the product # thanks, Tonya By: trb (20-Dec-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I recently checked out the compatibility chart on Sizzix web site also and it DOES say the precision base plate is compatible with the BigShotPlus! Have we (BigShot Plus users) all been duped by the Sizzix company??? I have mostly thin dies and am now very disappointed and frustrated with this company. I would have bought a BigShot and saved money if I had known important parts weren't available for the Plus. Who really wants to have to put the sandwich through extra times for routine cuts. Shame on you Sizzix!!! By: irishskye4751 (08-Apr-18) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • I am thinking of buying this product and am a bit confused - would I still need to use the Solo Wafer-Thin Die Adapter too? I am not seeing where it is used in the video, but they didn't use the silicone mats either.   By: kalliope_ (07-Aug-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • You just need your base plate, the precision plate (with the writing facing down), the paper and die and covered with another plate. You do not need the Solo Walter adapter. The precision plate is fairly new and was made to better cut the Intricate dies. Hope that helps. By: Dianequinlan (10-Aug-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I have watched a video where they have used the precision cutting plate and they state "NO MARKS LEFT ON PLATE FROM DIE" ! I have not had the same results. Every thinlit die, wafer thin die leaves a mark on the plate. Is this natural or something wrong with the plate I have. Used plate with Big Shot Plus...Magnetic Platform and the standard platform that comes with the Plus . The marks do not seem to harm any cutting, but will it eventually wear out where all the cuts are ? ? ?   By: Clickityklak (20-Jun-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I remember the video. I just received my plate today, so I haven't had a chance yet to use it, but when I took it out of the heavy plastic packaging I noticed marks on the cutting side of the plate. I don't know if they're scratches or just "stuff". I'm hoping they won't affect the cutting either, but I think I'll make an effort to move the dies around so they won't get concentrated in one spot. Good luck! By: missanne14 (22-Jun-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • From Tim Holtz video I understand that the precision base plate is for thin dies that have a lot ove detail. It is not for thin dies with large open spaces like nesting circles or squares. He warned that using it on dies with large openings could warp the die. So save this for detail dies with small areas for more accurate cuts.
