I recently used rub ons to embellish chipboard letters and a cut out circle. The problem I was finding was when I only wanted to use part of the swirly rub on, more than I needed was peeling off the backing sheet and being wasted. I solved this problem by using a very sharp craft knife and cutting the shape that I needed through the backing sheet, leaving the part I didn't need intact.
