I have TONS of "fashion" jewelry from years gone by (and I am only 47!!). I have taken wire cutters and gotten some really neat embellishments from earrings and necklaces - shells, beads, cords, "buttons", charms, etc, silvertone, goldtone, pewter tone. I can't wear lots of that stuff anymore - my ears are too sensitive to the nickel in the earrings, but I have found a new and fun use for them. And there ARE some memories associated with some of the stuff - why I bought it or what I wore it with re: occasion. And, after my mom moved from her home into assisted living and wanted all of us to divide her jewelry, I had even more choices - and memories - to choose from!
This can work with flatter stuff or lumpy stuff you may have.
