Creating a Mosaic Photo Mat
Submitted by: BraydynsMommy
To create a Square mosaic look for your photos in Photoshop Elements 6:

1. Open a new blank file.
2. Make sure you have your rulers and grid lines activated.
3. Select your rectangle tool ( u key ).
4. On your workspace create a 1in x 1in square.
5. Create several more squares of the same size along the same grid line.
6. In your layers pallette on the right side, click the first square layer and then press the shift key. With the shift key down, click on the last square you created. You should now have all of your squares highlighted.
7. With all of your squares selected, click on distribute (near the top of the screen) and then click horizontal centers. This will evenly distribute your squares in the row.
8. With your squares still highlighted, hover over your layers pallette and right click merge layers.
9. Now click on your layer that now has all of your squares on it and create several duplicate layers.
10. Move each layer off the first layer to create the mosaic pattern. You should have several rows of your squares now.
11. In your layers pallette, click on the first row of squares, hold the shift key and select the last row of squares. You should now have all of your squares highlighted. Then click on align, left and then left edges. Click on distribute and then vertical centers. Your squares should all be evenly distributed and all aligned.
12. With all of your layers still selected, right click over your layers pallette and merge the layers. You can now resize it bigger or smaller to fit your needs.
13. Now place your picture over you mosaic layer.
14. With your curser over the layers pallette, hover over the line between your picture layer and your mosaic layer and press the alt key. You should see a symbol that looks like two connected circles.
15. Click the symbol.
16. You picture should now look like a pretty mosaic!
