If you need a more defined chalked area oil pastels can be used in place of chalk. They are great for bordering around shapes and layered objects and create a great chalked look. You can make them as faint or as bold as you wish to by the pressure you apply to the oil pastel stick. If you need a fine line run your oil pastel against a piece of paper until you have a straight edge. If you need a bolder mark run your oil pastel stick against a piece of paper until you get a thick blunt edge.
If you make a mistake there is a simple fix for erasing. Take your cutting knife and rub the edge against the paper where you goofed up. It works just like an eraser for most oil pastels.
