Matting your photos is an easy way to decorate your page and make your photographs visually “pop” off of the page. The difference between a mat and a frame is fairly minimal. A photo is matted when the photo lies on top of the mat, leaving a border around the photograph. A frame has an open center and is laid on top of a photo. Frames are especially helpful in cases where you do not want to physically cut your photo, yet still want to highlight only a section of the photograph on your page.
