Handmade Cards for Special Occasions

I'm so happy to be a guest designer here on the Scrapbook.com blog! I'm sharing two cards and a tag that I made with the Exclusive Crate Paper Flourish Collection Kit of papers, stickers and ephemera. I added in some basic stamping because I'm really a stamper at heart!

Project Supply List

To start putting these projects together, I first laid out all of the items on my table and paired things together... looking for color palettes and bits and bobs to match together. Really, the possibilities are endless! I like to craft this way - I will go around my studio and grab a lot of things that I think will go together and then let my imagination ponder all of it - then I edit and start making!

From my stash, I pulled out some manila tags, ribbons and pretty gold enamel dots that matched the papers. The Pink Fresh Studio stamps go perfectly with the Crate Paper collection - just like they were made for each other! Both cards were made using the Scrapbook.com kraft card bases. They are a beautiful deep kraft color - very vintage!
handmade card for special occasion with bird
For the bird card, I stamped the bird and the sentiment onto a size 8 Manila Tag. Then, I layered papers, ephemera and stickers using adhesive and foam tape. I love using foam tape in my projects - such an easy way to add depth and interest to cards.

I picked up the pop of yellow in the strawberry ephemera with my layering papers. This pulls the card together and makes it more cohesive. This card would be a great thank you card!
handmade card with butterfly
For the butterfly card, I used pretty pinks and blues that were inspired by the butterfly sticker. I used pink and blue papers as my bottom two layers and then the graphic floral paper as the top layer. The sentiment is a big sticker, attached to the card with foam tape. The butterfly sticker was glued onto the card in the center only.

After it was dry, I gently folded the wings up with my fingers to make it come alive off the page! These colors are dreamy and beautiful! The tiny gold accents in the flower centers are a nice touch.
tag
To make the tag, I started with a size 8 Manila Tag and stamped the floral images onto it in black ink. Then, I gently crumpled the tag with my fingers to make it look worn. I also crumpled the pink butterfly sticker too. This is an easy way to add texture to paper, stickers, anything. It looks old, without being too fussy. I layered vellum with gold, with blue... Just kept layering!

This tag will be so pretty on a package or on a gift bag. There is also room on the back for the recipient's name or a note. Perfect!

I think I could have made 25 cards with all the supplies that come in this awesome kit! This would make a great girlfriend's get together project - invite your friends over, and let everyone create and share stories and fellowship. Use the stickers in the pack to decorate your envelopes too!
I hope I have inspired you to create today! Thanks to Scrapbook.com for inviting me to be a guest designer. Have a wonderful day!
