How much does a clip it up hold?

Hi everyone
I´ve been waiting for so long for the clip it up floor model to be released. It seems as a lot of suppliers have the base unit and upper tier on sale nowadays, I guess it´s because of the upcoming floor model.
I just reckoned I can get THREE base units+upper tiers for the same price as ONE floor model if I buy it from the "right" supplier. Since I live in Sweden I also have to take huge shipping costs, tulls and taxes into count. That´s a lot of money that I´d rather spend on something else.

So my big issue right now is-will a base unit+upper tier suit my needs? Will it be enough?

So I´m wondering how much does it hold? I know that the base unit includes 80 clips and the upper tier includes 40. But how many more can you put on without loosing sight of what you have?

I have a budget clip it up today (DIGNITET curtain wire from IKEA) that is so full that I can´t see a thing. I don´t want my clip it up to be the same way.

I know it depends a lot on the thickness of the items you put on, but let´s just say number of rub-ons and stickers to keep it simple. It gives me an idea, even if I want to put on a lot of bling and flowers.

So you clip it up owners, give me all the input you´ve got!

It holds quite a bit. you do have to be careful if you hang chipboard on it because it will weigh that side down.

I think I´ll keep my chipboard in boxes.

When you´ve used up the 80 clips that were included, how much space did you have left on your clip it up?

Well, let's see. I have about 120-130 clips in use on the bottom tier and about 60-70 in use on the top. Mine still turns fine and I can still see everything. I don't have anything that heavy hanging on it, though.

Ok, so around 200 items will work... How much space does it take on your desk?

you need enough room around the clip it up so that it can turn freely with out bumping into things. i have two, and they sit on two identical metal cabinets, about 10-12 inches apart, and they have plenty of room to turn. iwish i could take a pic, but my camera is on the fritz

I´m considering buying two... The store where I was going to order the floor model would only charge 90 USD for it. Unfortunately they closed it.

I´ve found it for 180 plus 63 in shipping. Then add 25% taxes and another 14 USD in fees. That´s a lot of scrapmoney.

The diameter base on the base model is suppose to be 12". But when you add supplies it must be wider. 18 inches if you hang ordinary stickers on it? And then add some extra space around it so it can turn freely. 10-12 like randasue suggested.

What do you think ladies? Am I stupid if I buy two base+upper tier models instead of one floor model? One Base model+upper tier would cost me 69 + 29 in shipping. And then the taxes and fees of course.

Have you thought of making it yourself?

I have one that is a floor type unit (I made it) and I love it!

Mine cost me like $15 total for all the parts (I have the terra cotta base on mine) and it holds 100 clips on the top and 140 on the bottom.

Yes I have looked into that, but we don´t have lampshades like that for a reasonable price. It would cost me more then actually buying one.

I looked into the floor model, the only concern it the size of the base.Looks like it would take up a lot of room. The only upside is that I could hang my "kits"from it.
I stayed with my regular CIU.

Newbie chiming in on the topic of making your own. I purchased a spinning rack from a local store that was going out of business and attached metal hoops (about 11" in diameter) to it.

It has five 'rows', is currently holding about 100+ items and is only maybe 1/4th full. The whole thing cost less than $20 to make, minus the clips, which I get at the hardware store - 14 for under $5.

I live in Sweden and it´s not that easy to get the right parts to a clip it up. Believe me, I´ve tried.

I really do recommend the DIGNITET curtain wire from IKEA if you don´t have that many supplies. It´s actually pretty good. The clips are really nice.

I have no counted the number of clips on mine but there are WAY more than the ones that come with the Clip It Up. I have a Rubbermaid tub's worth (18 gal tub) of stickers and stuff and more on mine. And it still has room on the top tier. hth

I have three Iris boxes' worth of stickers, rubons, diecuts, and bling on my two-tiered Clip-it-up. I ordered extra clips, and most of my clips hold two packs at a time, so there's definitely room for a lot of stuff on one.

I think I got somewhere around 300-350 clips on my DIGNITET curtain wire. They look pretty much the same as the once from Simply Renee. So I´ll definitely not buy any more clips.

I´m seriously considering buying two bases and two upper tiers. I´ve heard that it makes them 30 inches tall! Is that really the case? That might be an issue.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. I don´t know anyone who sells clip it up in Sweden, nor do I know anyone who owns one. So it´s not so easy for me to look for myself.

Here's what my two-level Clip It Up looks like on my desk, so you can see how tall it is. I don't mind the height as much as the width, especially if you try to hand wide items. They need a lot of room when you turn it around.

I´m going to put in kitchen cabinets in my new room. I was going to put the clip it up´s on them, but I´m also going to put in wall cabinets. That´s why I´m concerned about the height. I don´t think they´ll fit in.
