Another glue question

Has anyone tried the Beacon's 3 in 1 Advanced Craft glue? I bought some but I haven't used it yet. It is a little cheaper than zip dry but I don't know if it works as well.


My zip dry glue tends to get real gummy when I get down to the last 1/2 inch in the bottle. Any suggestions?

Okay - I used the new glue.
It did fine, but it really has a bad smell. The vapors were a little strong. I will probably keep using it because its like $3.99 for 4 ounces compared to $5 (something) for 2 ounces of Zip Dry.

All of Beacons glue is great IMO. I use Zip Dry 3in1 and Fabri-tac all the time. Also, try their Liquid Laminate, that stuff is like liquid GOLD! It acts like mod podge, but it is NOT tacky when it dries. So you can use it on chipboard albums and they won't stick. I just love it.

Yesterday I put some turpentine in my zip dry to thin it out and whew - I about passed out from all the fumes. Yuk! I don't think I will be doing that ever again.

The 3 in 1 worked out great - I think I will be using it more often.

Beacon makes the Liquid Laminate, and I agree that it's AWESOME! I am another Beacon glue lover!!

I have the Modge Podge tacky issues too. Where do you find Beacon? In any craft store?

Y'all should be able to find Beacon glues at pretty much any craft store, and scrapbook.com carries Zip Dry and the stiffening spray. I have also seen Beacon adhesives (including the Liquid Laminate) on Amazon.

ditto what Ami said, Beacon glues are carried in many stores. I was just at HL and Walmart today and noticed they both carry a few of the Beacon products.

I've never seen Liquid Laminate - I wonder if they have it at HL. I use the 3 in 1 glue all the time and its great.

I've tried Modge Podge on an altered notebook and my paper whelped badly. I would like to make the covers of my notebook glossy with something like Modge Podge, would liquid laminate work?

well the box I made for DD is now mod podged CLOSED. It refuses to OPEN,,,,,,,,and it dried for several DAYS before I closed it,,,,,,,,

never again. Liquid Laminate, here I come.

Can I ask what "whelping" means in the scrapbook world? I'm usually pretty savy about the terms, but I've never heard of this one in relation to scrapbooking. Whelping means giving birth (usually to puppies) as far as I know, and that definitely doesn't make sense with glues!

I think she meant "warped" instead of "whelped"

I think she probably meant "welt", which is an injury to the skin, a raised and swollen area. I have heard people say "whelp" when they meant "welt" plenty of times! I think it's a regional thing. I'm from Georgia, and I hear that all the time. I've even said it myself a time or two. Anyway, I imagined that the glue caused bumpy, raised places on the layout when I read that description, which is what I think the general idea was.

Ooops - I meant warped. Silly me!! I don't know what I was thinking! Sorry guys.

I started thinking - being from Texas and all - I think that I've heard people use "whelp" instead of "warp" despite what Webster's definition says.
