ScrapBoss or ShapeBoss -- What's the Difference?

I'm new at scrapping, but I've been making cards for a while and I want to purchase either the Fiskars ScrapBoss or the ShapeBoss, for both uses. Anyone have tips on which is more versatile? I have the Fiskars cutting system and stencils, and apparently the ShapeBoss holds the stencils for cutting, but I can't find specified anywhere if the ScrapBoss does, nor can I find the specs that list the size for the ShapeBoss. (The ScrapBoss holds 12 x 12 pages.)

Anyone have recommendations or comments on either item? I want to emboss and draw stencils.

A Scrap boss will fit up to 12x12 paper and the ShapeBoss will fit 8.5x11 I have both of them and love them. I got rid of the smaller card boss because you can use the other 2 to do them just as well

If I were you, I'd buy the ScrapBoss, because then you can use it for all the various sized stencils that Fiskars makes.

I have a ShapeBoss, and it's big...never mind. It's not as big as the ScrapBoss. (I need a vacation!)

I went for it and ordered the ScrapBoss. I can't wait to get it!

Too late, I found the texture plates and realized I could have ordered them at the same time as the ScrapBoss and saved a few $$ in shipping.

Oh well, now I have two separate packages coming. I look forward to playing with it all.

I wish I had known you were looking for one. I have my ShapeBoss up for trade/sell. I've found that I prefer using a lightbox instead.

So, if the Scrapboss is for 12x12" and the ShapeBoss for 8 1/2x11", do the ShapeBoss stencils not fit the Scrapboss, or can you interchange them other than the one unanchorable side? I'm curious because I've just been given a Lightboss, and I know the ShapeBoss stencils will work with it, but am wondering about the others.

I work for Fiskars so I think I can help! It looks like your questions have been answered for the most part, but here's the lowdown on every type of embossing system we make.

The ScrapBoss is the extended 12 x 12 version of the ShapeBoss. The ShapeBoss was created back in the days when 8 1/2 x 11 pages were popular. The regular ShapeBoss templates will fit fine on the new ScrapBoss.

There is also a Mini ShapeBoss with several stencils to choose from, which also holds the CardBoss templates.

The LightBoss was created solely for WalMart stores - they loved the idea of the ShapeBoss, but didn't like the idea of alienating their customers who already had a lightbox. So, the LightBoss was born.

The WAY coolest thing about using one of the Fiskars boxes over something with a lightbox in it is that you don't have to be able to see thru what you're embossing on. I've embossed on everything from vellum to crafting metal with my bosses.

All of these systems hold the texture plates nicely, also. If you haven't discovered the texturing tool that goes with the templates, and are still using a stylus - you're missing out. The texturing tool is a dream come true!
