That's right. We had a large prize patrol offering so we'll be able to award the top FOUR point winners a small RAK and ONE random winner will get a RAK.

So what is a progressive challenge?

A Progressive Challenge is done quickly and in steps.........it's like scrapbooking meets Simon Says with a touch of choose your group's adventure.

Join me SUNDAY(8/28) at TBA (waiting to see what is best for the most) Eastern time. At the selected time of the day, I will give directions for you to follow approximately every 15 minutes until the challenge/layout is complete. I will not even know the how the layout will turn out because you all will help make decisions as I narrate a story. It’s like a choose your own adventure scrapbook challenge.

Sunday's will honestly lack a narrative as I give options for the steps over to the players.

You will need common scrap supplies and 1 or 2 or 3 pictures to be decided at the time of the challenge. The first step will be either using a sketch or scraplifting, so you can get a head start on finding what you'll want to use.

You must follow the steps and you should not peek ahead if you are doing the page after the fact. You must do what the step says, but you can do more if you would like. For example if the step calls for adding embellishments and you’re told to add two you could add three.

You can play with me at that time I give the directions or you can follow later following the order when you get a free chance.

Some sneak peeks:
*Step one: find a sketch or a LO to scraplift
**Step two: paper selection and placement
***Step three: adding pictures
****Step four: adding handmade embellishments adding including newest goodies
*****Step five: adding "more" to the page
******Step six: adding the title

THE RULES:
*Your lo has to be new as of the day the challenge, hence a progressive challenge.
**Upload your lo here within 24 hours of the last direction
***Single or double page LO's are fine. Any size is allowed too! Paper only as the directions are for that type
****When the challenge has been closed, pm me your favorite layout within 24 hours of the challenge close time
*****Don’t vote for yourself as you will get a vote from me for sending in your vote.
******You can start the challenge at anytime within the 24 hours
*******You MUST follow each direction step-by-step one at a time, NO sneak peeks

I'm very interested in playing this; but I'll likely be late no matter what. Sunday is often our errand day but the Saturday round has been so much fun, how could I not try tomorrow?

You absolute CAN play on Sunday. I'm just trying to find a good time for all. You did say after 1 was okay or was it done by one would be better for you? Regardless you can play along after the fact and still complete a page and earn points. I think last time we played we did the Sunday one LATE so that it could be worked on into Monday and would not interfere with the Saturday round.

I'm thinking maybe not until 2. That way the Saturday progressive is completely over and that would make today's late in the afternoon on Monday.

Granny just left. Hubby took the boys out (they'll be back TOMORROW!!!) and I'm ready. Although, I always THINK that I'm ready and then I get thrown a curveball and can't find stuff. I'm starting to get anxious already. I'll head over to yesterday's and see if I can get it done.

What time is 2? Apparently I'm brain dead, because I don't remember if the time is for East or West Coast..and I'm Central time, so I'm really lost.

Checking in and noticing the start time. Works for me.

Jenny, I wonder if it isn't Eastern Time. Yesterday's challenge was EST, but I'm new and maybe she switches things up?

I believe she's starting at 2 eastern -- that's what's posted on yesterday's thread. I didn't get to play yesterday -- nor have I gotten to any bingos! I'm just finishing up yesterday's, but the last step has thrown me for a loop and I'm taking a break to see if anything jumps into my mind!

Okay...2 Eastern would be 1 for me! (I think. )

I'm trying to finish the lo I had on my desk and it's going slowly. I need to speed up so I can do the Bingo, today's Progressive AND yesterday's!

That is a 2 PM EASTERN start time. After yesterday's AM and Pm screw up I'm not evening going to calculate sb.com time. That we we start in about an hour and a half. I hope that clears it up for you Jenny.

Glad to see so many faces. I will need lots of help today because you guys will be picking out the steps. Debbie and Mel are here!!! Glad you all made. I thought maybe we intimidated you too much last time. We'll miss Karen from the class of July 2010 she's off to a crop today, but she did sneak around everyone yesterday and get a 2nd place finish. Yeah...Anna and Lisa are busy getting caught up from yesterday. Marci's gone to church, but I think 2 should be a late enough start that we'll see her around. But based on her first place win yesterday everyone could use the head start. Wonder where Megan is? I bet if this was a 3 in morning challenge she'd be here. And we have from the newest class (the class of Aug. 2010) Anne C, BJ, and Amarilys back for a second day of torture. With one trial run behind them can we see them finish in the top three knocking out Marci who won yesterday or any of the other veterans to the challenge?

Stay tuned for those answers and more...

Helpful Sunday hints:
When I host the challenges back-to-back, I try to force the second day to go in a completly opposite direction. Like if we lifted on Saturday we'll sketch on Sunday. Or if we did handmade embellies on Saturday we'll do handmade flowers on Sunday.

Excellent recap Stacey. I almost feel like I was there. LOL!!! I really meant to play along yesterday but I've had 2 very tough weeks of work. I do very physical work. Like I'm so stiff now I can't move because i sat down for a minute work. Yesterday was my first day off really and I layed on the couch watching movies all day.

I NEVER do that. It normally bores me to tears. I hit a yard sale and realized I was just too tired so I came home and SPLAT!! on the couch. I only ventured out again to go to Blockbuster and the Chinese food take out.LOL!!

So today I am raring to go!!!!

Debbie it sound like you gave your body exactly what it needed. Know we'll have to all look out 'cause you'll be a force to reckon with.

I bet Megan is power napping.

Marci glad you have a junior scrapper that may join us. It's been a while since either one has played. I think I speak for everyone when I say feel free to accommodate the steps for her so that she stays comfortable. This challenge is only meant to stress out the adults not our next generation of scrappers.

General reminder

The options will be posted in blue, and the steps you have to do will be posted in purple. For today this will be very important. In other words you can only do what you are told to do in purple.IF YOU FALL BEHIND OR START LATE, PLEASE DO NOT GO FORWARD AND SEE WHAT'S NEXT -- the object is to make your LO progressively; one step at a time based on what you just did.

I will ask a question and the first FOUR to answer post will determine what the step will be.

Please ask any questions you have as we go along. It gets kind of confusing, and remember to "refresh" the thread so you're always up-to-date.

As I warned you today’s progressive is a little different from the typical progressive. Today’s progressive will determined by the power of FOUR. You’ll see as we play how this works. You know today is a sketch day, but I said there would be a twist. Here it is: the first four people to post a sketch will determine the sketches we MUST use today. Yes, you may have a sketch already planned, but if you’re not in the first four you’ll have to put that sketch aside and pick from the one’s posted.

When the first four are revealed I will post them in one response so you know exactly what sketches you can pick from. At that point you will have ten minutes to gather papers and pictures to go with one of those sketches. After ten minutes, we’ll decided what little extras must be done to those papers.

Feel free to manipulate any of the four sketches so that you may use any number of pictures you like. For example, let’s say you we’re planning to make a page today using four pictures, but the sketch you like is meant for one picture, so you could break that one picture spot into four parts. Or say you only want to use one picture but the sketch calls for two pictures- you could use the space of the second picture as a journaling box.

Respond to this message a picture of the sketch you want or a clear link to the sketch you want.

What sketch would you like to use today??

One your mark
Gets set
GO!!!!

What technique would you like to do with the papers that we will use today?

Here are a few suggestions:

A) distress the edges
B) do a mask [lightly ink or paint- I suggest using some spray on product- so it will dry quickly
C) apply more than one stamp {hummm where is the trick ‘cause what will happen next!!!]\}
D) moisten the edges and curl a side up
E) add stickles or glitter to the entire page, the edges, or select parts of the patterns
F) distress an area by hold punching and inking a patch
G) burn the edges or use soot colored ink
H) tear the edges
I) crumble, wad, and then unfold and straighten
J) crumble, wad, and then unfold and straighten, last sand
K) place a textured item under the paper and sand over the paper so that texture shows through. How to blog: http://forscrappingoutlou d.blogspot.com/2009/09/sand-pa...
L) use ink, paint or even a marker to make your own polka dots if you use ink or paint share with the group what strange object you used to make the uniform pock-a-dots (I use bingo markers, bubble wrap, pencil tops)
M) created a ruffled edge by following GabriellaP's tutorial-

Link

N) wet distress

I'll let u know the four we can pick from in my next post in purple!!

STEP TWO - gather your papers that you will use today paper do any TWO of the following to these papers:
A) distress
B) moisten the edges and curl a side up
C) add stickles or glitter to the entire page, the edges, or select parts of the patterns
D) do a mask [lightly ink or paint- I suggest using some spray on product- so it will dry quickly

You can do more or other techniques if you would like, but one must be from the list!

Now, how distressed to we have to make it? Is inking the edges enough or do you want more?

that is all the distressing I'm doing... so the amount of distressing is up to you and really because it's so vague any one type of distressing is fine...

and if you moisten and curl the paper back that does not count as the distressing you'll need to distress in an additional manner

C. distress the edges of one by rough them with scissors, filing, sanding

G) mosaic cut the corners of the picture
