Hi girls.

A while back (2010) I had the chance to play a monthly challenge in the Anything Goes Challenge forum which required that we use Scrapbook Dot Com's Scrap By Color Tool to create four projects for the month.

Those projects really pushed me creatively and I absolutely loved the end results. I put together color palettes that I would NEVER have come up with on my own, but they were spectacular!

I got to thinking - how much fun would it be if there were a challenge that featured that tool each month? And I realized, that if it were to be, it would have to be up to me.

So - here it is. The first monthly Scrap By Color Challenge! If you haven't played with the Scrap By Color Tool, here's your opportunity!

*******
Here's the link to Scrap By Color
Scrap By Color

The way the tool works is this.

#1. (First Method) You load a photo into the program, and it returns back a set of color selections to you. You choose one of those colors to function as your base, then choose a color scheme to go with it.

OR #2 (Second Method) Alternately to loading a photo, you can simply force the base choice color by using the color wheel instead of loading a photo. You still use the choices on the right to create the color schemes with the base color you chose.

Either method is fine for the heart of this challenge.

*****

Since there is already a Monthly Monochrome Challenge, we won't use that one here (but it might show up over THERE - like a weekly wild card or something!) What we WILL do is the other four - sort of like Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4. I've set up a different post for each color scheme.

The color schemes can be completed in any order, and you are not required to complete all four weeks. This is a challenge by choice - do one, two, three, or all four weeks. Do them in whatever order you want. And if you decide that you want to complete ALL the month's layouts in one week that is perfectly fine. Whatever works for you!

Be sure to LABEL your project with which color scheme you used when you post it to the forum so I'll know which week to post it to the front page.

You can use a different picture for each scheme.
Stacking with other challenges is permitted and encouraged. Make your project fit as many challenges as you can!

No sign-up required. Just jump in and have fun whenever you're ready!

I am not the comment police. I know we all get busy and get behind. But we all like to get comments on our projects, so do your best to give love when you get love.

Layouts must be new as of today (April 26) and are DUE no later than midnight SB.com time May 31st . After the final posts are updated, I'll collect votes.

READY? Then let's go! Have Fun!

I've included samples from my gallery from way back when I played this the last time!

Just checked out the color tool; very cool!

Just one question.... Do we use the same base color all month then and just click on the four different schemes to get the varied colors?

I am so excited for this challenge and thank you for bringing it to the attention of those who have never tried the tool!

Jackee -

No, you don't have to use the same base color all month. You can use a totally different base option with each color scheme, or if you WANT to, you can use the same base and see how the different schemes play to it. It's up to you.

This challenge is meant to be very low key and unstressful. The whole idea for it is for you to really get an opportunity to experiment and play with this cool little tool and to have a place for you to upload your projects when you get them done.

No pressure. No pressure at all. Just relax and have fun with it this month!

I've been playing with the color tool ever since I signed up here, and I'm blown away! No matter what pic I use, there's that "ahhhhh" moment when the right color combo appears! And believe me, what I get is not something I would have thought of on my own! Thanks for the inspiration, Pat.

Sure!

I used that light teal blue for my base color...

It came back to me pretty pale, but when I darkened it JUST a touch, it kicked out that really cool mauvey-peach tone, and I just HAPPENED to have that diecut paper in my stash of things to use up, so I'd say it worked out pretty close to perfect.

Epic Putt-Putt By NMscrapper

I did it!!!! Couldn't wait to share. I learned so much about how the right colors make the photo pop! It was truly amazing!

This layout was done using COMPLEMENTARY COLORS. The base color that worked best was a very light blue-grey.

Hi C!

Yeppers, we're having all KINDS of fun with this. Carol and I have both already finished projects and it's only the first day of May.

Grab a coffee, your Timmy Tonic Scissors, and your distress inks, and let's see what you come up with using this cool scrapbook tool.

You are going to LOVE the results. I promise you!

Yep. It's so interesting how it creates a whole color scheme for you, and more than that, how you can actually SEE how that scheme might look all executed with a "see how this would look with a layout" feature.

I was hoping to get to scrap tonight, but it turns out I am expected at HS graduation. Something about a retirement plaque. ...

So, no scrapping, but at least an opportunity for my DH to take some photos (but he's not a great photographer, so I'm not expecting much...)

Hi Ladies.

I'm working on getting my June Challenges up and running, and I put this one up this morning. There's no rush to get started on it - June hasn't even ARRIVED yet, but since May has five weeks, I thought it might give some of you a jump start if I went ahead and opened it up.

Please don't kill me. I used some of your gorgeous layouts as the samples for June. They were so pretty, I felt a real need to share them beyond our doors in this little forum.

Help me grow this. Mention it in your other forums and let's get some more players over here. This tool is too cool to keep to ourselves, right?
