Time to vote, girls!

I host SEVEN different challenges, so please title the PM with the words MONOCHROME VOTES.

It is EASIER for me total votes if you use the layout NUMBERS instead of the titles.

Please tell me the numbers of your top 3 favorites for each color week, as well as your number and twist (if you did one).

I'll take votes through Sunday and then I'll post winners in the July forum.

I hope you can make it to the July monochrome - even if it's just for one color - but if not, thanks for playing and hope to see you again soon!

*******************

June - the month of summer brides, summer vacations, and summer gardens.

There is something amazing about a garden. Starting in the spring, you dig up the dirt, till up some rows, plant some seeds, wait for God to water them (or give him a helping hand with the hose), and just like magic little green shoots start popping up from the ground. It's like they just know you want to watch them grow.

I'm fascinated by my garden - the smell of the tomato leaves, the sensation of the okra pods with their fuzzy outer coating, the asparagus shoots that stand like little military sentries waiting for their turn to do duty at the dinner table, the carrot frond tops which splay wide to cover the bounty hidden beneath them underground, and the squash and eggplants that grow with such abandon that they threaten to take over every square inch of garden space.

Mmmmm. Abundance. That's June.

Enjoy these, and make sure to spend some time on your porch watching the world go by.

************************* **
Here are the basics of how MONOCHROME works.
************************* **

1. Monochrome means "of one color." Each week has a color which you are to create a layout around. Aside from the listed neutral palette, this is the only color tone allowed in your layout.

2. It must be obvious that your intention is to create a one color layout, so the only "color" of your layout must be the weekly color and it's corresponding darker and lighter tones and shades. Any other colors must come from the neutrals palette.

NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE TONES are : white, cream, beige, tan, brown, khaki, olive, black, gray, and navy. These are the colors that my mother always told me "go with everything."

*****Layouts using colors other than the color of the week and the neutral palette are not considered monochrome and will not be included for the voting. Make SURE your layout conforms to the specs for this particular challenge!

3. Twists are added for your amusement and to help you push your project to the next level. If you complete the twist, your page gets an extra vote at the end of the month.

4. The challenge weeks can be completed in any order, and you are not required to complete all four weeks. This is a challenge by choice - do one, two, three, or all four weeks. Do them in whatever order you want. And if you decide that you want to complete ALL the month's layouts in one week that is perfectly fine. Whatever works for you!

5. No sign-up required. Just jump in and have fun whenever you're ready!

6.
I am not the comment police. I know we all get busy and get behind. But we all like to get comments on our projects, so do your best to give love when you get love.

7. Layouts must be new as of today and are DUE no later than midnight SB.com time June 3oth . After the final posts are updated, I'll collect votes.

READY? Then let's go! Have Fun!

Week 1 with twist... my interpretation of watching the world go by the Niagra Falls. People from all over the world come to see the falls. Also, in my family, three generations have seen the falls

I forget the facts about the rate of erosion.. but there's the power plant about 13 miles down the river where the original falls were located at that has a museum. If you ever go there, be sure to check it out. We missed it the first time we were there. I highly recommend going to the visitor's center and paying for one of those tours.

Melody -

That one will work just fine. You've used a neutral base, and the only "color" is the eggplant and it's accompanying shades and tones.

You do monochrome just fine! Glad to give you a challenge, girl. It's awesome fun when you get the hang of it!

And now I'm ACU
Some amazing LOs already & the month just started. I'm taking tomorrow as a sick day- had an epidural spine injection yesterday & sitting at work today was not good- let's just say I spent more time up walking around trying to stop the tingling down my leg and pain in my hip from getting worse that I didn't get a lot of work done. When I scrap- I can stand- so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. Saturday is SCRAP day at my house & the girls will be coming over- all kinds of creativity happens then

Melody, I know what you mean. When I first started with the Monochrome, I just couldn't get the hang of it. Now, I find myself scrapping all kinds of layouts in shades of one color. It has become my preferred way. Who knew?

My first monochrome was worked in gray summer before last, and I was HOOKED!

I have so many teaching projects that I have to do, I don't always get around to getting my monochromes done, but when I work in one color, I feel CHALLENGED. When I FINISH a project in one color, I feel victorious.

It's not something I can just throw together or go by what I've done before. (even if they looke thrown together!! ) It's good to stretch your self once in a while!!

ACU
I saw the neatest series of books today - telling your story through lists - Listography Journal: Your Life in Lists, Love Listography: Your Love Life in Lists, My Listography: My Amazing Life in Lists (Diary), etc. There are several of them and the lists are like "list of times I had an audience, list of worst days, best days, favorite websites - really some things to think about. I don't care for the way the book is illustrated, but what a great scrapbook it would make. I think they are all by Lisa Nola. Has anyone actually used one of these books? I put them on my Amazon wish list for the next gift giving occasion

there's some good thought provoking things there Pam- not sure I'd want the books tho- I've done some of those exercises in the past- I guess it's all about getting our minds turning and thinking about what things, people, dreams, all mean to us & what are hopes still are.

You can get the list topics by looking at the "Look Inside" option on Amazon & browse thru the Table of Contents - why spend $10 for something you aren't going to write in- which is what it's for. The actual book seems geared more to the teenage girl. Pull out the ideas you would use- most of them are not new anyway. It's just in a format to get non-creative people thinking for themselves instead of letting the TV pump it into them. That's my take on it anyway.

Now there's some other books I came across by Keri Smith that challenges the reader to interact with their environment- books like "This is Not a Book" "Wreck This Journal" "How to be an Explorer of the World" and many others. She encourages readers to find things- respond to the stimuli she presents, observe their surroundings with a new perspective and write, draw, paint, whatever in the book. I'm thinking that several of her presentations would be inspiring toward an artistic BOM theme. But I found them more interesting than the lists. I'm getting a couple as gifts for young adolescent boys I know who would probably enjoy the stimulative thinking & interacting.

Anyway- what I really came on here to do was post that I finally finished last month's Teal challenge- just to share- I struggled with the LO of the pics and details for weeks it seemed- so all I really had picked out was the paper & matts- the design came together today. I've entered it in the sewing challenge & Use Your Scraps:

Good morning!

Dropping off my eggplant with a twist. It’s more eggplant in person, but looks more indigo here.

Hi everyone - I finished the Asparagus page- I love how it came out- I also used the June Page Maps Week 5 sketch too since I had to crop the pics down so much- it really worked:

I just love these challenges- really helps get the creative juices flowing.
