Lisa's mention of the box lid reminded me: I have a tray from Archivers that I do glitter or embossing powders over - it has a spout to pour all the leftovers back in the jars. I would make a huge mess without it. I only have the smaller size, but I may have to look for the bigger one too.
I'm exhausted. I feel like I'm stretched way too thin lately. I have to get thru today. It's a doozy. And then tomorrow is my day -- and warn anyone about getting in my way.
I'm playing tennis (I need some real exercise) in the am. Then I have plans to play in the scraproom. I need to cut paper, ink edges, maybe even go crazy and get out some paint. All this talk of embossing (I started it) makes me want to pull out my heat gun.
Nobody better ____ up my plans. Feel free to fill in the blank. I may even put my new t-shirt on.
"Be nice to me or I'll crop you out of my scrapbook".
Since I'm home all day for a while I set a new goal for myself. I make 4 page kits a day with papers, embellies, photos and my design sketched out so I can remember how to assemble them.
I work on 2 pages at a time and it has really been going fast. I got 4 done yesterday and if I get 4 done today that brings my total to 4 for the next crop. They go so fast and easy when I do them this way.
Its easy to get 2 ready in the afternoon and 2 more in the evening.
Bill bought me the first season of Murphy Brown on DVD so I just pop that in my computer and watch Murphy and scrap. Really enjoying.
I'm trying to cut down on the number of pictures per page or else work with cropping and getting them smaller and that is a challenge for me!
Melissa W & Sara – keep that cold weather away from here! That’s one thing I don’t miss is…… SNOW! That’s one thing about south Texas, we love our warm winters……why do you think all the snow birds come down here!?!?
Taryah – I feel your pain! I am losing my mojo too and I can’t seem to snap out of it. I started a layout and have come home from work just to find myself sitting at my table and staring at my stuff. I haven’t even started my Christmas cards and I have a batch of 30 baby shower invitations I need to do too. I am mentally drained.
Well I finished the one lo - and it's ok. And then I got another one done. YIPPPPPPPPEEEE!! I'll photograph them tomorrow.
Just wished the cleaning fairy came and picked up my scrap room. Brendan used it over thanksgiving to work on a project. Guess he figures he can leave his [email protected] all over my room too. Grrrrr.
Got 4 pages done yesterday - they are ready to glue and finish at the next crop.
Today I've completed 2 - actually glued them down but all the lettering has to be done and I'm saving that for the crop because it is time consuming. One will say, "Seattle Gum Wall" and the other will say, "Flowers From Pike's Market" and I don't know if I will use some I already have or if I will make them out of my slice.
I have 2 more I want to get to the glue stages tonight so I will meet my 4 page goal today.
I think I have about 120-150 pages to do and my goal is to have them on paper and the ideas worked out by the end of December (at 4 pages a day I can do it) and then glued down by the end of January. With a Friday night crop and a 3 day crop - I can get them glued and finished easily in January as long as we are in town.
I have set myself a doable goal for the rest of the year to finish a few specific LO's. I have one more from March '08 and 3 from April '08 to finish the first third of that year, which, in this case, equals a complete album. I would also like to do one with the odds and ends (thank you notes, honor roll cert, etc.) from school in May/June '08 to completely finish 5th grade. And, I only have All Saint's Day '08 left to do to completely finish 6th grade. If I can get those two done, I can put most of the rest of my grade school type papers & embellies in my pile to give away.
Am so behind, and haven't scrapped all week--but cleaned out two file cabinet drawers (almost all went to recycling) to make room for scrap supplies--I am determined to clean up my scrap area. I'm tired of hiding stuff every time we have company, like at Thanksgiving.
I love Chinese food and we do not have one Chinese restaurant around us that we like - not that we have found yet anyway and we've been looking for 5 years. We found a Thai restaurant who makes pretty good shrimp and broccoli and Bill likes their pepper steak but they do not make fried rice, their egg rolls or spring rolls are not the best.
My son and his wife tried their sweet and sour chicken and the chicken wasn't even fried. It was just awful. And the place is expensive.
Fine if its just Bill and me becuase they make what we like okay but I want fried rice. Do not like steamed rice and neither does he.
Fun layouts to work on today. I have 6 pages spread out on my work table - they are of Dolly's house in Ketchikan, Alaska. That's the famous old brothel. Lots of journaling for it.
Really the first page is just shots of Ketchikan and I'll research a bit of history to add. The next is on Creek street which was the old red light district. Then the outside of the house and a bit about Dolly. Page 4 is on Married Man's trail which is the back walkway over the creek to get in the back door of the brothel without being seen - the sign actually says, "Married Man's Trail" because that is what it was.
Page 5 is the madam's bedroom and a picture of the bathroom shower curtain. People brought condoms, which were made out of silk in those days and Dolly didn't think condoms would ever work for birth control or disease control so she took all the silk condoms and made rosettes out of them and sewed them to the bathroom shower curtain.
