Welcome back for round 8 of the ABC Challenge. Here are the basics of how this one is played:

1. Each month, there are three or four letters of the alphabet that are used to spin the challenge specs.

2. Your challenge is to create ONE SINGLE LAYOUT that uses ALL of those specifications for that month. How you interpret them is up to you.

3. Your layout must be new as of today and is due no later than midnight December 31.

4. Please allow public embedding for your projects so that they can be posted on the front page.

5. Digital or Paper - doesn't matter, as long as you include all the required elements.

6. Stacking is permitted. Use your project to play in as many challenges as you can make it fit!

7. Random.org decides the winner. No voting pressure!

A Word About Comments

I don't want to limit the number of players or exclude anyone who wants to play, but there is a certain realistic limit to how much time you can spend commenting on projects. Most members I've talked to here believe that it's better to get a genuine, heartfelt comment from someone who really wants to leave it as opposed to a "drive by" from someone who is only commenting because they feel like they have to. If you want to leave love, then by all means, you should do that. If you don't have time to do more than just drive by and wave, then we all understand that too. Jami Bishop, a wise woman in another forum says, "REAL LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT." I'm stealing her words and adding them here."

I think that's about it, or at least as much as I can think of right now. If you have questions, ask them.

DECEMBER'S WINNER - TUV (tree, unique, vellum) - chosen by Random.org
My little Reindeer by Beck_bear

********************

Ready? Let's get started. Have fun!

For January, we've decided that we'll be doing a FREE-FOR-ALL.
The finish up letters are W X Y and Z
The specs are your choice, you just have to list them with your project.

Right now, I feel so horrible that I just need to say let's wait and see. If it weren't for my new laptop, I wouldn't be here at all. I'm so sick I can't even stand up without feeling like I'm going to pass out.

I know I'll be better soon. I don't feel as bad today as I did yesterday. But I come down with this bronchial pneumonia thing every year when it gets cold and every year it seems like it takes longer to get to feeling better..

February looks probable at this point. I'm thinking about a way to twist it around its axle.

Feel better Pat - I'm finally getting over mine from Thanksgiving - I think I did 1 layout & my uglies last month. Rest is best!

I think I've figured out my WXYZ - Z was so hard as I had words but didn't want to use photos to match so I've been online looking for 'Z' and found a word! finally.

Ok, so I have a pretty good start on mine. I have the y and z done, and a plan for x and w.

I won't be able to post it until Wednesday, because it's my round robin project, but at the rate I'm traveling, it won't be DONE before that anyway.

My brain must be dead - not having a whole lot of inspiration on this one. I may have to do the alphabet thing, too. Good idea. Or just wait and pick from everyone else's ideas Love the Zebra print!

Well, I think I must have stepped on the creative accelerator, because once I got really started on it today, it "zipped" right along.

I can't post until Wednesday - it's my Round Robin project, but I'm very happy with how I managed to spin the four letter specs this month.

I lost my scrap paper that had some cool words on it so I thought of new words today:

W - white opaque flakes (I'm having fun using these as snow)
X - Xmas time 2005
Y - Yuletide = German celebration during winter, and I used music tissue paper just to add to the celebration.
Z - Zamang = large ornamental American tree. I thought the snow wasn't enough so I added tinsel and the golden starts on top.

Finally got this one done. The y really stumped me. All I could think of was yellow and that just didn't go with this page, so I sat down with a dictionary and went thru all the the y's and finally came up with yarn.

W: washi tape behind the photo
X: X in the title
Y: yarn as the butterfly trails
Z: zebra print paper

Front page is updated.

I'm participating in the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge, which is a six week Designer Challenge with a pretty cool prize and DT opportunity. It's seriously kicking my hind parts to hither and yonder, but at the same time providing me with inspiration GALORE. I passed the first round, and am working on my week 2 of 6 which is a "multi-layered" layout.

I'm scrapping a photo of my sister and me from Italy for my project this week, and it's going to be taking up most of my free minutes. I substituted at the Elementary school yesterday, then will again this Friday, I have a class on Thursday, and my project is due on Saturday.

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that if you don't see me this week, not to worry. In the immortal words of Arnold, "I'll be back."

Ok.

So I'm considering hosting this again if there is any interest, but I'm thinking that it's time to give it a pretty decent overhaul in terms of challenge design.

We'll still use the ABC format, but I think we'll use a different format.

I'm thinking something like :

Color
A
B
C

Word or Topic
A
B
C

Technique or Product
A
B
C

And then you would choose ONE from each list to create your project. That might make it a little more fun?

What do you think? And when do you want to start? Or do you?

Ok. It's been helpful having the month off from some of my other high-impact hostings. I've been able to think some creative thoughts and have a glimmer of an idea or two.

Give me a little time and I'll see what I can do about getting it up.
