Hi girlie girls!

Welcome back to the ABC Challenge. Since we're ready to start a new round, I've been doing a little thinking about giving this challenge a creative overhaul. Last month, we played a wild card round, and we seemed to have a lot of fun with that. I wanted to figure out a way to include that idea and give the players a little more creative license.

Here's how we're going to do it.

1. Each month, there will be three letters of the alphabet that are used to spin the challenge specs. Two of the months will have a fourth "wild-card" choice.

2. For each letter, there will be three categories of specs :
1 - Color
2 - Word or Topic
3 - Technique or Product

3. Your challenge is to create ONE SINGLE LAYOUT.

4. Your job will be to choose one category for each letter, making sure that you use all three categories.

You are to use all three letters and all three categories, but only one from each group. In other words, each letter and each category will be represented only once on your page. I hope this makes sense, but if not, please ask me to clarify. I'll be working up a sample and have it posted soon!

Example : If you use A for Aqua, you cannot use A in the other two categories. You will have to use B or C in Category 2. If you were to select C - Cherish, that means that you must use B - Brads in Category 3. Each letter once, each category once. Hope this helps.

5. How you interpret the categories and colors is up to you.

6. When you post your layout - post how you interpreted the letters and categories so that others can benefit from your creativity!

7. Your layout must be new as of today and is due no later than midnight the last day of the month.

8. Please allow public embedding for your projects so that they can be posted on the front page.

9. Digital or Paper - doesn't matter.

10. Stacking is permitted. Use your project to play in as many challenges as you can make it fit!

11. Random.org decides the winner. No voting pressure!

A Word About Comments

I don't want to limit the number of players or exclude anyone who wants to play, but there is a certain realistic limit to how much time you can spend commenting on projects. Most members I've talked to here believe that it's better to get a genuine, heartfelt comment from someone who really wants to leave it as opposed to a "drive by" from someone who is only commenting because they feel like they have to. If you want to leave love, then by all means, you should do that. If you don't have time to do more than just drive by and wave, then we all understand that too. Jami Bishop, a wise woman in another forum says, "REAL LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT." I'm stealing her words and adding them here."

And, as always...HAVE FUN!

*****************

Choose One from each category. Do not use the same letter more than one time.

Color
A - Aqua

B - Blush

C - Cardinal

Word - Topic
A - angels
B - babies
C - cherish

Technique - Product
A - antique embellishment
B - brads
C - crinkled paper

Here's my sample for you to peek at!
A = Antique Embellishment (the little valentine card)
B = Blush (the color)
C = Cherish (the metal tag and topic)

I already have a question... do we have to complete 3 layouts or can we choose to do as many: 1, 2 or 3, that we want?

The PLAY is to create ONE layout, but you are welcome to create as many as you would like, provided that they all follow the guideline.

It's never come up before, so if you should choose to do more than one, let me know which one you want to turn in for your entry.

That's a good start, now you just need an A and a C. One technique, one word. :-)

You're up and running, which is more than I can say for ME!

I'm not sure if I missed this or not but..... Can we use other colors on our LO along with the color we choose for the challenge? Or does it have to be monochromatic, using only the color we choose for the challenge?

So for instance aqua, angels & antique embellies?
Or aqua, babies and crinkled paper? Do I have it right?

#1. Erin - yes, you may use other colors with your choice, as long as the other colors don't include the two from this challenge that you did not select. So if you are using Cardinal, you can use any other colors except Blush and Aqua.

#2. Tina - that's the trick. Each letter only once, each category only once, no repeats.

#3. Corky - it's the second choice you listed. One color, One Technique, One word. Different letter each time.

Got a quick question:

If we choose to use the antique embellie, does it have to be a real antique or can it just look like an antique. And if it's a real antique, what contsitutes antique?

I'm probably making this more difficult than need be but....I want to play this challenge as true as possible!

Thanks,

LOL.

If you tell me it's antique, it is. That could mean taking something new and making it old using a technique or a tool, or something old (could be an old photograph even), or even using the word antique in a title...

I'm interested in inspiring your CREATIVITY. Think OUTside the box as much as possible!

I'm loving this challenge! I have my words/letters picked out..now to find some photos! Quick question though, if I use the word cherish...do I need to use that word in my title or somewhere on my page?

If you use the word or topic, It must be obviously visible - in some manner - on your page.

Here's mine. I chose A= antique embellies, the plaque holder looks old, and the "cherish" has been crackled to look old. B= Blush and C= the word Cherish.

I have another question? Whatever color we chose does that have to be the BG color or can it just be on the layout? I know it must be obvious as to what color you chose but I just wasn't sure if it had to be the actual BG paper.
Thanks!

Again I signed up for a lot of challenges, well not a lot, but 2 of them have multiple sketches so it's like a lot!! Plus I'm on 3 DTs and I am hosting a challenge! IDK why I do this to myself, LOL!

I know why...I love scrapping!!! Plus it helps w/ my "Volume Challenge"! Great motivation!

LOL - well, the guts of them are up. Mostly I did it because I like to have them all in a bunch in my favorites list. When they're spread out between the others, they kind of get lost and are harder for me to manage.

They won't go "up" until middle of next week, but at least they're "bookmarked" and stored.

Here is my layout:

Gotta Wear Shades By Doreena

A = Antique Embellishment
This part was hard!
I finally decided on the Emmas Dress Shopp sticker because the little girl looks like she comes from the "olden days" and if that didn't count I used a brown distressed brad, in the middle of my flower, which I have had in my stash for years!

B = Babies
Pictures of my DD as a baby

C = Cardinal
Red BG

Rhonda - that's a CUTE project! LOL - you'll get the hang of it. Don't sweat the small stuff. You have the right attitude - it's ALL about getting your pages done and your photographs and memories archived!

Thanks for playing everyone. There's still plenty of time in the month, but if you're ready to tackle March, I've got it up. AND I did a sample so that there won't be any confusion -- well, there's going to be confusion because I am PERPETUALLY confused -- but at least there will be a visual aid to accompany the instructions.

Here's the March link! Mosey over there when you get your ready on.

I used Cardinal and Blush on my layout!!! I didn't even realize I did that until right now.
It was completely unintentional!
