GUIDELINES:

We all understand that real life can become a pain sometimes and life gets pretty busy...So, if you want to leave the group, Please let us know or PM a driver. There will be no hard feelings!

Due to the amount of scrappers who want to be in an active support group, we only have one "rule" to stay a member and that is...the "posting" rule. (Note: The rest are just guidelines so people know what is going on).

************************* *************************

Posting:

* Please check in at least once a week and say hello and or just let us know you're ok.

* Now, if you're ill, or you're going away etc. and can't get on, we totally understand that, just let us know that you won't be on for a few weeks so we don't worry!

* If a member does not post anything for a month, their spot will be opened up to new members.

************************* *************************

Layouts:

* No specific number required, just post them as you do them!

* If you have a LO you would like to share, please put the link in your post (instead of a general can you look at my gallery). That way we can talk about your latest project together!

* We all love comments, so please make an effort to check out each others galleries.

* When a member posts up a layout, let's all check it out!

* Do not just come here and drop off LO's to get gallery love. (Note: If you are posting for love and don't return love to the others, it leaves a bad feeling about you to the others).

************************* *************************

Challenges:

* We have bi-weekly & monthly challenges!

* It is not compulsory you take part, but we would like to see you participating and being interactive with the group! So, please do take part in the Challenges, Games & Swaps, when you can!

* Anyone is more than welcome to host a challenge!

* If you have something that you would like to see on the Blog, just let Sarah know!

* If you are going to take part in a challenge, please ensure you can commit to it, all the way through & to the end.

* In the case of any swaps, please ensure that you send along only items of quality, that you yourself would in turn like to receive! If not, please be aware in advance, that you may be asked to resubmit an item, in the case that it shows a lack of care, quality or effort.

Disclaimer - By all means, please do not fret or be leary of swaps! Just for the record, this has only been known to happen once or twice & has since been resolved!

* Some of our members are overseas, so if project submissions need to be sent to someone by the 32st of the month, please be sure to have it in the mail NLT than the 15th, etc!

* Also, we do understand that things may pop up to prevent you completing the challenge...However, if this is the case, please be sure to PM the hostess and let her know, in advance!

************************* *************************

Please do not flake.

You have just entered a no-flaking zone & it will not be allowed whatsoever!

************************* *************************

Misc:

* Please do take the time to get to know one another! And in the end, we'll surely become a Fabulous group of friends!!!

************************* *************************

Again, Welcome!

A friend is one of the nicest things you can have...and one of the best things you can be!

Tonight includes the Wii Fit Plus (which I think I forgot to mention).

And if all goes well, I may even get in some scrappy time with my Cricut!

Shannon – thanks so much for the reassurance – now just to get some from hubby that the house won’t fall apart without me!
Cathy – I’m not taking the position for 6 months (it’s a maternity leave spot), because they would have to fill my spot in my room and then I could end up anywhere. I absolutely love my centre and I have people coming from all over Brisbane just to leave their children in my care – good friends of mime have come all the way from Mackay and want me to look after their little boy! So I have no intentions of leaving – plus there isn’t really an increase in pay for all the work that would be ahead of me (remember this is the centre that has all the biting children that attacked Sophia, the staff are unreliable and unprofessional and the centre is a real mess – while this is the reason I have been picked to take it over, cause upper management know I’ll whip them into shape and tolerate no nonsense when it comes to the children’s care – I still don’t wish to leave my room and children, and their families)
Thanks so much for the hugs Cathy, I’m ready to part with my tonsils! I barely have any voice today and sound really odd!
Good for you for stepping down, I’m glad that you found the strength to put yourself and family first, even when it was a difficult decision
Cyndi – Tabitha sure has fitted in well, she sleeps like a baby in my arms, talks to me and knows when I need a hug. She has deffinatly been helpful in filling the void after Sweet-Pea. It all came rushing back to me this week when I found out Sweeps was missing and then she finally got to come home. She’s resting in my beautiful wooden TV cabinet with her memorial card.
Wow a dinner for 12! What a wonderful family you must have, all that chatter and good food – devine!
Candace – oh they are cutting it fine with the furniture – but yes BREATH, there are worse things! You’ll be fine, and the furniture will be all brand new for the wedding
Dana – ooohh soup, applesauce and pudding – now we’re talking!! I only ate jelly and up and go breakfast drinks when I had my wisdom teeth out and seriously craved whole foods!!! Why didn’t I think of soup and pudding!! Thank you for saving my sanity!!
Shirley – I’m so sorry to hear you are still ill, don’t overdo it, you’ll get better quicker. Lots of rest and liquids.
Karen – what amazing news!!! I truly hope that your friend makes a recovery and will be thinking of him and you all
Rhonda – your room sounds wonderful! I bet Marissa was excited to get the goodies! Ew I hope the septic isn’t as big a problem as it sounds, your yard is going to be a mess! Good to know that the owner was happy to come over and do something about it though. Is the shed on cement or straight on the ground?
Noelle – yay for getting a new car – sounds like this was a more positive experience than last time?
Kelly – YIPPEEEE I’m so glad that you liked your present! I just loved shopping for pink and black goodies for your book. I just know you’ll embellish and fill it with love!

Hi Kelly! You're being a night owl like me! (That's what I get for sleeping after lunch!)

I took Sophia to a birthday party today - I got a special invite from one of my children at work! It was such a sweet Dora themed party. Sophia had a blast, helped a lady to facepaint, chased after balloons, played with playdough and got to eat cake. Better than spending a day at a seminar! (Like the other girls I work with were doing)

Tomorrow I'm hoping to catch up with my cousin whom I haven't seen for over 15 years! We're going to Currumbin Sanctuary. She's got 2 girls, so my two girls should have heaps of fun with them!

I'm so messed up on my sleeping right now, it's ridiculous!

It's 3pm & I feel like it's 3am.

When I woke up this morning, I started working on boxes (baby, Spiderman & my mom) & my monograms (mainly Shirley's), but I quickly wore out.

I'm about to take a short nap & then I'll try and get back to business.

Oh yes, & my back is hurting (from either an old injury or just sleeping horribly), which in the end, isn't helping things whatsoever.

My Dad's birthday is next week... any ideas on something I can make him??

He is a pretty simple man... family man, religious, the only hobby he really has is fishing & hanging out with my mom, lol

Karen, how about a framed photo of just you & your Dad? Either current or from when you were a little girl. Depending on the frame, you might even include both types of pics. Sort of as a Then & Now/Daddy's Girl-themed project.

Dad's usually love that kind of stuff!

The only other ideas I have, would be a framed or canvas photo collage.

You could include all the different types of things that he loves & or the people in his life.

If that project is too big, you might try and think of something that he could display on a bookshelf, his desk or his workbench.

Hope That Helps!

So, this is the kick in the butt that I needed to start on our wedding album! I did one for my Mom for Christmas & then lost energy & desire to do another one!! My original goal was to have it done before our 1-year anniversary (March 20) so I better get busy!!

My heart belongs to you By Karen3066

2. Dana = DONE!

Here is the lo I would like to enter in the challenge for this month. It is my DH and I with our darling little daughter just 2 weeks old. Mom's really shouldn't get their pic taken in the first few weeks, I look totally exhausted.

Noelle, since both of Cathy's Feb Love projects are both equally cute, I'll let you decide which one to remove for the drawing.

Hmm! I think I will just put her name in the hat once. I can't decided between either of the projects. They are both too cute.

I will let everyone have till the end of tonight to enter in. I will pick a winner tomorrow.

Today (Monday morning), I'm working on my calendar updates, as well as some St. Patrick's Day projects.

I honestly can't remember the last time I've sent out St. Patty cards. I always mean to, but once March arrives, I always seem to too quickly run out of time!

Sunday is always very slow at work, so I've taken Abby's second year pics to work the last few Sundays and gotten them in order, today I am writing the journaling down in my notebook and listing things I want to use on the page and colors. Makes the day go much more pleasantly.

Thanks for the idea Kelly!! I love it & it's exactly what I am going to do! For some reason, I have recently loved doing guy crafty stuff! I think it's just the change of scenery!

I am in such a terrible mood today I was forced to go to a baby shower after work today... through guilt. It has put me such a down mood though because it was my cousins baby shower & we both found out that we were pregnant around the same time.

I went with Abby to do a bit of shopping for her apt. Granny (my mom) told her to go buy a few things for her apt., including some cookbooks. I bought her some rugs for the kitchen and some small skillets. Then we went back to her apt. so that I could see how it was looking. It's going to be a really tight fit in the bedroom once we get the crib in there. She decided that she'd put her dresser in the closet, since it's so large and she doesn't have many clothes. All in all it is looking pretty good and should do for awhile.
She's still waiting on her bedding that I ordered to come in before she really moves in.

I have my modem now, and real internet!!! YAY!!!
So, I was really busy last week, then went to the Renaissance Festival both Saturday and Sunday, in all these years, I have never gone to it....I loved it!!! I got some of the coolest things, and will have to put some pics up on my blog....really I will....LOL
and now , I can go back and leave some love on all the projects I have missed the last couple of months too, that has really been bugging me.
Drew was here with me since Wednesday, but got his Uhaul trailer for the last load this morning, and took off. I have his patio furniture in the back of my truck, since he didn't have room for it. I will deliver that to him either Thursday or Sunday...and see their new home.

So, today I was thinking, since...

1) We have a brand new thread

2) We have had some wonderful new ladies join us this past year!

3) And or the thread has been a bit slow in SBB Land (most likely because of busyness & or making the transition)

Just For Fun...

- How did everyone first come to end up in this group?

- Who did you meet first?

- Out of the 5 threads total, how many have you been part of?

I forgot to come back to share that as of today, I am only 1 pesky pound from finally losing 10 whole pounds! (For me, that's big!)

And even though I think that I'm probably right on track (not too much, not to little) & have completely started eating differently...I have to admit that as far as the exercise area goes, I haven't been trying my best.

I so need to break my lack-of-exercise cycle.

I really need to make time for it & make it a priority!

YAY!!! for you Kelly,
even tho I have my scale here, I have not been using it, but I do have a doctors appt early in the morning...Sadly, I've had too much candy lately, with Valentine's Day passing and Easter comming up, and of course it being Girl Scout cookie season, the sweets are everywhere I turn.

Cyndi - congrats on the RAK win!!

Noelle - how's the new car?

Rhonda - the Ren Faire sounds fun!

Karen - eek - a photo I was supposed to send you a photo, so glad Rhonda mentioned it!! Will do that.

Kelly - congrats on the weight loss! That is a big deal! It is very difficult to do, I'm so proud of you and I envy you! I LOVE your motivational poster!!!

The soggy rainy windy campus visit was amazing! I was so very impressed with the student ambassadors and the staff. They were so friendly and welcoming and very helpful. You were never more than a few feet away from the next ambassador even as you walked about the city streets in the pouring rain!

And it was an awesome experience for Chris (or any prospective student). He was able to speak directly with professors, deans, staff, current students and alumni. Of course he needed a bit of pushing to do so.

And I got to see that he was pretty good at navigating his way about the city/campus which made me feel better.

So all along Drexel has been his first choice. But he has not finalized his decision. He still has one other school to hear from which would be a non-city based campus and a bit closer to home. But in the afternoon of our visit, he said "Mom I think I've made up my mind, I belong here"

And I've not slept the past 2 nights due to worry. I'm hopeful he will succeed. He wants to go there with out making any disability arrangements. He thinks he will be OK. But when he realizes he will have to be the one to initiate conversation/action of any of his needs, he wishes there were a safety net. I think that he will be OK. I just wonder.... do we ever stop worrying about our children???

For me - I was asked to join by Dawn and Shirley.

- Who did you meet first?
Well, I knew Dawn, Shirley, Courtney and Ria from a different thread. Aside from them, the first person to welcome me to the group was Kristy!! I joined the day after Kelly (you were in CA at the time). After Kristy I think I first met Noelle, Bonnie, Rhonda, Cyndi, Melissa, Lisa, Sarah (we used to end up on at the same time a lot), Dani, Shannon, Candace, Julie

- Out of the 5 threads total, how many have you been part of? This is only my 2nd

3) And or the thread has been a bit slow in SBB Land (most likely because of busyness & or making the transition)

Just For Fun...

- How did everyone first come to end up in this group?
I joined this site in May of 2008, and I think I joined this group just a month or two later. I someone from the group at the time post a message on the General Scrapbooking board advertising for members, so I came over and joined. It was instant friendship!

- Who did you meet first?
Rhonda, Noelle, Sarah, Shannon, and some others that aren't in our group anymore. Sorry if I forgot someone. It's hard to think that far back!

- Out of the 5 threads total, how many have you been part of?
I'm not sure because I know the group existed before I joined, but I've been a part of quite a few of them!

I went and priced new Glasses at Americas Best which has a special 2 pairs of frames and exam for 69.99.. By the time I choose the two frames I wanted and put the Lenses I need it was 568.00 dollars so glad I went in and got a estimate before I did anything..I'm going to try a few more places before I choose my frames.
I'm excited to get some new Glasses my old pair broke and I spent over two hours last night determined to put the screw back in them I actually found the screw that fell out I must have tried ton of other one's in a kit I had before I found the Original screw in my purse.

Cathy- I LOVE my new car! It's so pretty and so much fun to drive. I plan to do a LO of my old car. I hung onto it for so long so it was a big part of me. Hard to let it go..

Cyndi- I will get your RAK together this weekend. I hope you like it!

Rhonda- I love the painting on your face.

Kelly- hope you get to the 10 pound mark soon. I weighed in at WW on Saturday. I lost another 2 pounds last week and am down 6 pounds total!

I always mean to celebrate, but forget Sweetest Day & Grandparent's Day!

Both of which actually happen to be 2 of my most favorite holidays!

It also made me smile to think that Joy will be able to celebrate her very 1st Grandparent's Day this coming year! How super sweet, am I right!

Speaking of holidays & whatnot...

Happy Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras Day!)

With today in mind & food in mind (for Chris), I am picking & choosing which foods not only he, but the girls & I might especially like for a themed dinner menu tonight!

Years back, I had an opportunity to spend a weekend in New Orleans & suddenly wish that I was there, seriously, just for the food alone! (BTW - I think it might be because I had only been able to try it once, that it was all so very good & has me thinking about it today).

Chris especially loves all the rices, okra, gumbo, etc. However, I am more about the seafood, corn on the cob, breads & let's face it, I think I'd loove to say that I've tried their traditional King's Cake! It just looks yummy!

(Candace, what do you think, is their a cupcake version?)

Candace, I have to only assume that you all probably celebrate?

Does your family decorate, cook or do anything extra special?

Cathy, Rhonda & Noelle, Thank You So Much for the encouragement! As for that last pound Noelle, I don't know what it is, but the 10 pound markers are the ones that seem to be the hardest to get to! On a positive note, once you're close, it's very exciting to finally get there!

Colleen - Glad you found us!!

Cyndi - Your FB food pics always look so yummy! In addition to bread, I've since tried to wean myself off of flour tortillas. But after dedicating myself to the wheat ones, but I've since went back. Anyways, just yesterday, I had wrapped some leftover chicken in a torilla with organic lettuce & Newman's raspberry vinegarette. Later that day, I saw what you ate & quickly had food-envy! LOL! Seriously though, next time I think, I'll try to chop up all of the ingredients in the wrap! It just looks all the more appetizing!

Joy - Speaking of food, I meant to ask you if Abby ended up finding any good cookbooks? Does she already cook or is she just learning? (By the way, Better Crocker is a #1 fave of mine!) Anything in particular that she likes? If so, I can go through my stash & or keep an eye on my monthly Thrift Store hunts!

Karen & Collen - What the heck is a Kentucky Butter Cake! (Oh My Word!) I have 2 recipes that I'll be sure to post tomorrow! In case you can't tell, I'm trying soo extra hard to be extra good, but these cakes & desserts are calling my name! They keep saying, "Make Me, Try Me!"

Having major anxiety today and I do not know why. I already took my daily pill, and hope I don't have to take another one.
I need to go return a few things we bought for Abby's apt on my mom's debit card and then go get her another bathroom rugh and kitchen rug. Then I need to start cleaning house. I'm having a crop on Saturday.

Girls - that shadowbox I did for DH's niece was calling to me - I could not stand the way it turned out. So I ripped it apart and redid it. I'm much happier with it now.

Kelly - in German tradition, today is Faschnacht day. We eat lots of donuts!! Typically we make our dinner pancakes and donuts, but since the boys have plans tonight - we did it last night.... and had some left over donuts with breakfast this morning!

Tomorrow the fasting begins.

Speaking of fasting and Lent.........

Do any of you gals do anything in recognition of Lent?

I have already stopped my coffee intake. I started cutting back 2 weeks ago. And then stopped on Sunday. So that will be one thing I will go without through Lent.

I don't so much select something to "give up" as much as I usual try to choose to do something during Lent that brings me closer to the Lord, or helps me to spend additional time praying or being more Christ-like.

Since I have a tendency to pray while I clean, I'm hoping to have a very clean house by the time Easter arrives!

Actually, no, we don't really celebrate, but our school district does give us a week off! Gosh, I love living so close to New Orleans! I've only ever been to one Mardi Gras parade before, and it was a small one.

We do love to eat the traditional king cake. We usually pick up a couple throughout the season (by that, I mean as soon as Christmas is over...lol). There's a bakery in my town that claims to have the best king cake around, and they ship them all over. I, personally, think they're very dry and not good at all. My favorite is from a bakery called Randazzo's. That's all they make, and they do them year round. You can get them filled, but I love just the original (cinnamon) or the pecan praline.

I found this recipe the other day, and I thought they looked so cute and easy to make -

http://plainchicken.blogspot.com/2011/03/easy-king-cak e...

I've been watching a few of the parades here and there on TV today, but other than that, I just like having the day off!

OK Ladies, I think I just adopted a new recipe & tradition!

I'm taking Cathy's German donut tradition (insert German heritage here as well), with Candace's Cinnamon Kings Knot recipe. From the pic alone, it reminds me of the pink frosted donuts (which have always been my favorite!)

We actually have a Winchell's Donuts here, so I might have Chris pick up some donuts on his way home to drizzle & decorate! I won't eat any because I'm promising myself to be good!

p.s. As you can sort of just tell, I sort of just pick & choose (& or adopt) new & fun traditions. Other than that, I'm sticking to staying away from sweets (for the entire year).

Candace, from the look of the King Cake, it sort of reminds me of an Italian Christmas Cake.

Those are somewhat dry as well. LOL!

I think regular old cupcakes with colored frosting (with coins inside) could very well pass the test. Because let's face it, who's gonna hate a cupcake!

p.s. After Cathy mentioned the German traditon, I went back, scrolled down & read up on the French & Italian traditions as well. For whatever reason, I actually never knew that much about the source or reasons for Mardi Gras.

As far as actually being there for the actual parade, quite honestly I don't think it would be my kind of scene. That just reminds me of how filthy & disgusting the streets were by mornings light!

That's what I do too, I don't give anything up but try to do more good deeds for others, more time spent quietly in prayer (when the kids aren't being demanding!). I'm thinking of calling some local old folks homes or hospitals and seeing if there is something the kids and I can do together. Hubby works nights and our weekends are crazy so it's going to have to be something I can do with my two kids.

Are the King's Cakes the ones with the baby in it? I remember where I used to work the people in our New Orleans office would send us a cake with a tiny plastic baby in it. I think whoever got the piece with the baby got good luck or something.

Hey babes!! I just HAD to share... Karter baby has used the potty 2 nights in a row. Last night I sat him on the potty just kind of to see what he'd do, since he's so interested in everyone else using the potty. Since he peed when I sat him on it last night, I decided to try again tonight. Once again, he peed!! I'm so proud of him and it looks like we will start really potty training him very soon! I'm so excited and proud of him!!!

Shannon.. yay for Karter potty training! A great milestone indeed!!!

Cynid.. congrats on your RAK win!

Cathy.. love your projects! I do read your blog and I'm so amazed you're so good at keeping up .. with so many projects and so many things you did.. seems like you have 48 hrs a day!

Sarah.. when is your surgery?

Kelly and all, your recipe and food sharing talk is making me hungry .. a good thing since the antibiotics totally wiped out my appetite.

I got very sick over the weekend and gave in to antibiotics. Got Chobani greek yogurt by the dozen from Costco.. the first day or so was very tough. Upset stomach, sinus headache and unbearable pressure and etc.... by today, the antibiotics has finally kicked in, I can tell. Quite a bit of relief. I haven't been to work and not checking email much at all... it really is a miracle I still have a job.

If I keep this up though, I won't have one soon. But what can I do? I'm too sick to run.. and running seems to be the only thing that keeps me healthy. Hopefully, I will regain my energy after this round of antibiotics and be able to keep this vicious cycle off for a while...

I used to abstain from sth for Lent.. not anymore since I'm left with only my obsessions

But Easter is a very special event for us, I usually put together Easter baskets for the local Rescue Mission and help others deliver them.

Dana, yes that's it! They have a plastic baby inside, and the tradition as I know it is that whoever finds the baby has to buy the next king cake. However, there may be other traditions floating around as well!

This is my favorite: https://www.randazzokingcake.com/

To me it's like a big moist cinnamon roll!
