Jamie P: Freehand is similar to Illustrator. It's essenially a program that you can draw/illustrate in. Well..at least it used to be anyway. I have not touched it in almost 2 years so they may have done something different to it now.

Shutterbugg has it right, it is like illustrator, just one is macromedia, the other is adobe. Well, it is all owned by Adobe now. I find it a little easier for some things.

I wanted to buy Adobe Photoshop CS2, but opted for a less expensive scrapbooking program by by Broderbund ~ " Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer Platinum" ~ $35.00. I really like it.
I still want to buy Adobe Photoshop CS2. I can get a teachers' discount at a local store ~ $299.00. Not bad compared to the first price I saw it for ~ $719.00 ~ at a local office supply store.

I'm new to digital scrapbooking . I'm using or should I say I'M TRYING TO USE FxFoto. I find some of it good. I like the photo editing. BUT I do find that saving some of the LO's very confusing. Either that or my software is corrupted. Anyone else using this softeware?

I had no idea here were so many programs. I do use all of my photo programs for differents aspects of the project. For the actual scrapbooking I us HP Creative Scrapbook Assistant. I can add my own shapes, backgrounds, etc or use the ones in the program. They have specific layouts but I can make up my own and save in the projects.

I am open to checking out other programs also.

Okay, so I'm not a digital scrapbooker ... I prefer to work with my hands, yadda yadda. But I'm looking into maybe getting my sister-in-law started on digital scrapbooking since she's not much of a hands on type and does a lot of stuff on the computer already.

So my question is, what would be a great program for her to use? I know everyone has their own opinions, but is there like a top 5 that pretty much everyone raves about and wishes they had?

Sorry, I know nothing about this topic. Need help.

I'm using TLC's LifeTimez and I'm loving it! I never thought I'd like digital scrapping but it certainly has it's advantages!!!

My husband is a general contractor and we're about to move out of state so I need to put together a portfolio of his work. I got one started and it was taking me so long to get anything done... then I realized I'd need multiple copies to leave at different establishments and with potential clients. Digital scrapping solved my problem! I'm making one digital book of all his work and I'll have multiple copies printed and bound. Then when I have time I can copy the digital layouts as regular layouts in our own book to keep at home. Yahoo!

I use Photoshop Elements 3.0, I've tried the Corel Paintshop Pro and a really "cheap" dull boring scrapbook program that came with my dad's computer.

Hands down, I'm in love with Photoshop Elements, however I did like Paintshop Pro too.

hi, i'm new here and new to digiscrapping. i'm using scrapbook factory deluxe 3.0 and like it well enough, only thing i'm not finding in it that i would really like to have is a way to make drop shadows or bevels.

i've used older versions of adobe PS in the past (i think it was 5.0) and will probably 'upgrade' to elements or CS2. actually, i'm thinking about trying out the 30 day free trials for each software company that offers one -- that will give me some idea of what i really want to use. plus keep me busy for free for months to come

Add me to the list of PSE4 beginners. I also have Memory Mixer, which seems a little easier, but PSE has more features so I'm concentrating more on learning that.

I really enjoy that program...but get really annoyed when it crashes. I've learned to only make two pages at a time in each project...that way it isn't as slow. My bf's computer is crazy fast...but the program is still horribly slow! Do you have the same problem?

I use PSE to make sure I really loved it, but now that I have kind of mastered PSE I would like to invest in CS2, but it is really expensive. I LOVE elements though, you have more options then the programs that are just "scrap-booking" software. Plus you can design your own kits with Adobe products, which is what I would love to get in to.

I have been using the Broderbund PrintMaster series for years, though never thought of doing Scrapbook pages with it until recently. I'm still trying to tear myself away from totally paper, as it's easier to go digi when at work or traveling Currently I am on version 17 Platinum ... have used the CK Scrapbook, but had a really hard time with moving stuff around and using my other digi downloads in the program. I would like to try some of the others, but are too expensive for me at the time so will stick with my Print Master

Hi, I'm new here and saw that I'm the only one who uses Scrapbook Flair.

It's a FREE download from the site by the same name. It's really easy to use! I mean really easy...my 8 year old DD uses it with no problems and my 6 yo DD just needs help clicking the mouse.

Because I'm really new to digital scrapbooking ...only about 2 and a half months now...I liked that it came loaded with stuff. It comes with backgrounds, elements and templates. And, they've offered more free kits on their site, too. I know that purchasing kits online is not expensive but since I'm so new, I thought it was nice to already have all these elements already there. I wasn't willing to put out money for kits and software if I wasn't sure how long I would use it for. Now, I don't mind purchasing kits but I mostly use the elements that came with it and it's still the easiest one out there, I find, to use.

But, but, I'm confused!! I'm a new scrapper, but, not new to digital imaging and most of these programs are for digital imaging.

Unless I'm missing something, they don't do tags, or strips or some, different sizes of frames and don't, far as I know allow you to easily 'build a page'? Please clue me in, for I may be missing out, and, keep in mind, I'm looking for 'user friendly'!!!

Updated to here!

Sueski- We create the whole layout digtitally. You can create embellishments/tags as well with many of the programs (mostly the Adobe family). Click on the link in my siggy and you can see my gallery. None of those are actual pages... they're all digital. I have printed a few at Costco though.

Yep, what Meghan said! And I've created my own tags and embellishments using GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program, which is free), too.

Hello. My name is Jenn, I'm new here and new to scrapbooking! I've been thinking about getting something like Photoshop but haven't had the money. My MIL told me to make a list of stuff I want for xmas so I looked up Photoshop Element and I found 5.0 or 5.0 and Premier 3.0! I'm just lost at what to get, after hearing all these new programs!

I have 5.0 but can't really tell you much as I'm just learning it myself. Premier is a movie making program I think.

Hi,

I just wanted to add some of the other software I have been using lately. Added to my collection
are Scrapbook Flair; Microsoft Digital Image 2006 nad Paint.Net. The last has become a favorite for embellishments.

Don't know beans about digital scrapbooking , but would love to learn! I have that Arc program that came with the puter, but I can't figure out that layering thing. I'm downloading flair, but I'm nervous about it because the free stuff always seems to come with a lot of nasty spyware that clogs up the puter! Anyway what attracts me to digital is that i hear it's so much faster! I spend hours and hours making the paper pages! I worry about how safe the digital would be though, you can burn pages to a cd, but if that gets scratched or anything that would be bad

I would like to start digital scrapbooking but not sure which program to go with. I know I can purchase a copy of CK Platinum something or other from our local Staples store.

It's really tough to decide which program to use. I have used the trial version of Scrapbook Max and liked it but not sure if it's really what I'm looking for.

Any suggestions??

I love to digi scrap. I use a combo of two programs.

Gimp and Photo Explosion. I find them really easy to use.

I've been using elements the last few weeks. I've tried Scrapbook factory and I didn't care for it. Loving elements right now.

Hi, I'm new. I just wanted to say I have been using ACDSee Photo Editor and Scrapbook Max! I love them both.

At first I downloaded Picasa, ACDSee Photo Manager, ACDSee Photo Editor, ScrapbookMax!, PSP-XI, and PSE. I have been playing around on all of these, since they all have that 30 day trial (Picasa is free though). I have a huge learning curve going on where PSP and PSE are concerned. If I do decide to use either of these programs, I will need to take a class, LOL! I did not like ACDSee PhotoManager and it essentially does the same thing that Picasa does (and you can't beat Picasa's price). I decided to go ahead and get Scrapbook Max! because I want to use it with my kids to scrapbook what they learn. The ACDSee PhotoEditor has a tutorial bar off to the side that basically holds your hand and helps you learn the program much quicker. When you don't need it anymore, you can close it - forever if you want.

This is my quick assessment as a newbie digiscrapper.
