You are right Veronica, there are so many programs out there it is like standing in the toothpaste aisle today....too many choices!!ha,ha

I would suggest Photoshop Elements 11, and there is a free trial for it here http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=pho... It is a great program that you can use as a beginner and go as far as you want with it as there are so many features (but you don't have to use them if you don't want.) As you become more experienced and want to add more effects it has the capabilities that other programs lack.

I use Photoshop CS5 and probably only use 25% of the power of the program, but it's fun to then learn something new and find that you can do it in your program.

Best of luck in choosing and moving into digital!

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so pardon my jumping in. I use PSE 10 sometimes (glitchy on my Mac) and love my iScrapbook. Have just purchased My Memories so am still on the fence there. Thanks for this thread!

Just wondering about digi scrapbooking. I just did my first layout and I really like how it looks on my computer but when I print it out, I'm just not sure about the scale. I'm using PSE 7 and I'm wondering how others handle this issue. (hopefully I'm in the right place to ask.) I'd like to make all adjustments before I print so I don't waste too much paper or ink LOL

It's absolutely beautiful, although the date is missing. I would never have known it was your first digi LOs. It's streaks ahead of my first one.

I don't think I understand what you mean about the scale. Do you mean the resolution?

No,not the resolution...that is okay when printed (I think) but the brads just look too big. And I'm working on another page using staples and I don't know how to size them so they don't look too unrealistic....too big or way too small...just wondering what others do. Like I said, I'd like to get it right before printing. Thanks!

Oh and here's page 2 with the date

Oh I see what you mean. No, the brads look fine to me. I mean you can get them in practically any size these days anyway!

Well if I can be bothered to get my sizes accurate (and often I can't!), I zoom in on my computer screen so that the size I'm seeing really is 12"x12". Then I compare the size of the staple (for example) with a real staple, and adjust the layer until they match. Would that work for you?

So this is my attempt at using staples...not sure how they will actually print (I'm waiting on my ink order to arrive) but hopefully it will be okay.

Just came across this one today. www.inkive.com - have not used much yet as just played with the editor but it has an online sharing component for digital scrapbooking which is perfect for the family tree I am building with all the old family images and documents. Have been able to 'ink' all my family members and they can add there photos to it and keep it private away from prying facebook users. Hopefully will finish it soon and provide a link here when done. Also noticed it has some really nice features like bringing in all my facebook photos which created a photo album of the kids in under a minute and looks awesome. Have just printed that one so will let you know what it looks like when turns up.

Photoshop & Corel Draw are the two I use the most. I have Adobe Illustrator, but like Corel much better for Vector graphics.

I was using CM but switched over to Panstoria, still learning the ropes though. If I purchase and download digital content from this site then can I use it with Panstoria?

I use Photoshop and Illustrator. I have been using these programs for years and there are still depths to them that I don't know!

Hi Marlene - I just upgraded to My Memories 7 too - only I use the windows version.

Have you discovered any shortcuts or tips? I'd love to hear them.

I love My Memories for making pages but don't like it for storing papers and elements. I've worked around it and it makes it a lot easier for me to access my photos and elements while keeping My Memories open.

I am doing a lot, like making transparencies (png files) in Photoshop.

I'm not as computer literate as most and actually paid a ton for private lessons in Photoshop Elements ($100.00 an hour once a week for a month) and just couldn't grasp it enough to do much with it. Now I can do functions like make transparencies and a few other things like that so I'm glad I have some basic knowledge of it. I love it, just over my head. I admire anyone who really grasps it and gets it.

My Memories does a lot of the same things, just dummied down for people like me.

It sounds like I need to spend a lot more time learning Photoshop Elements. Love My Memories but Photoshop Elements does so much more. I use it along with My Memories now to make transparencies and do things like that.

I just am not getting the hang of the layering on My Memories. I think when that clicks for me I'll be able to do more with it.

I have been using PSP for over 10 years, and teaching it for almost as long.
PSP is way more powerful than lots of people know or think!

Ask if you have ANY PSP question.

I love Photoshop - really love it but the learning curve is horrendous. I actually paid $100 an hour for 4 or 5 private classes and then just got frustrated. I couldn't do a thing and didn't grasp layering.

I did the first couple Jessica Sprague classes on line, which were excellent, but miles ahead of my skills, knowledge and abilities.

I finally discovered My Memories which is perfect for me right now. It is a dummied down version of Photoshop almost, doesn't do as much as Photoshop, but you can make some awesome pages!

I use photoshop for making some of my transparency, or png files and recoloring things and lots of other functions.

My goal is to get literate with photoshop and be able to actually make pages on it. I've been struggling with it for over 2 years and eventually, hopefully, the lightbulb will come on and I will grasp it.

In the meantime, I'm creating digital pages I'm very happy with using My Memories (Only about $29 for the download from their site or from Amazon), and while I am learning Photoshop, I am able to use My Memories and scrap.

If you can do Photoshop, I do believe it is best. But not all of us are at that computer level. I have a lot of respect and admiration for anyone who can walk in and do Photoshop because it is so hard for me!
