Thanks for the interest...lets get started.

Hello this is a new Circle Journal Group!

A Circle Journal is: a book that you create, any size, shape, and color. This is YOUR journal so be creative. Each participant creates their own Circle Journal.

The theme for this CJ is My Pet(s)....
Please decorate the outside of the journal in anyway that you want and the first page inside the journal, thus setting the feel of your journal and yourself. Your welcome to add a note with some of your favorites or dislikes just to make sure those do not get in your journal!
You then package up your journal and send it to the next person in the circle. (Everyone in the swap does the same thing so your journal will begin and end with you.)
The next person in the circle receives your journal, does a two-page layout according to one of their favorite things or by following your lead and directions and within a month sends it to the next person in the circle. Every month you get someone else's journal. At the end of the swap, each participant gets their own journal back with beautifully decorated pages by your fello swappers.

This is a really EASY and FUN swap to participate in. when signing up you need to make a commitment to complete the pages and to send the journal to the next person within the month time frame. This commitment will last over the next 5-6 months.

Please note: You must be sure to check in evertime you receive a CJ and send one out. Let us know Where it is and who's! Thank you!!

And include this information in your CJ can be on a seperate piece of paper!

Getting started

1. Sign up
2. Purchase or make your book. You need to make sure there are enough pages for the introductory page(s), sign-in page, and the entries for each member of the group.
3. Decorate the cover of the book, if desired.
4. Create you title, introduction, and sign-in pages. The introduction page can include your favorites but it doesnt have to your welcome to put those on a seperate piece of paper along with your dislikes and any guidelines for the others to follow when making their entries.
5. Immediately after the sign-in page, create your own entry into your book based on your theme.
6. Send the CJ to the next person on the list by the deadline. We will establish a routing sequence and deadlines after everyone checks in. You will always receive CJ's from the same person and will send CJ's to the same person on the list.
7. Receive a CJ from another participant and create your entry (be sure to follow any guidelines they give!)Let the group know when your receive a CJ or send one!

When you recive another person's CJ:

1. Note the theme
2. Review the introduction page(s)guideslines/ favorites/dislikes
3. Sign in
4. Create an entry based on their favorites or guidelines. If you have a question- please ask the owner of the book about it or post it on the board we are here to help.
5. Send the CJ to the next person on the list by the deadline. (it is ok to mail early, just let us know.)

Mailing

1. DELIVERY CONFIRMATION IS MANDATORY!! Please post your confirmation number here so the journal can be tracked. Please post when you ship and receive, I will be keeping track on the first page.
2. Take special care when mailing the journals. Use a box, not a padded envelope. Use bubble wrap around the book and put it in a large Ziplock bag. Then fill the box with additional packing materials. We don’t want them to get damaged in the mail.
3. Print or write out the addresses big and clear and double check it before you mail it. Also please add a return address!

When the last person in the rotation completes their entry, the journals are returned to their owners.

Nitty-Gritty Details

You will have someone else's book in your hands so please be respectful:
-no smoking around the CJ
-do not let children or pets near the CJ
-store books in a safe place when not working on it
-if something happens to the CJ while in your possession please let the owner and myself know right away, sometimes accidents happen and it is better to know then never see the book again.
-Please do not sign up if you are not going to be able to follow through. This is a HUGE commitment, time, effort and money, no one wants to start and then have their book disappear. I am currently in a CJ where someone has disappeared with 2 CJ's that don't belong to them. It is a horrible thing to happen.
-If there are any problems/concerns, please PM me immediately.

**I shamelessly stole all that above from Miriam and the "My Favorite" CJ that I am in.

Let's sign up. Once we have enough people we will decide on when we want to get mailing. Let's sign up!!!

Yeah..we have 7 of us.
That seems like a good group size.
In our group:

1.Jill - scrappin4myboyz
2.Marcia - marciaray
3.addicted 2 kellyc
4.Elizabeth - peachie beth
5.MissScrapsAlot
6.Jo - texlady
7.Jessica - lovestoscrap3000

If everyone could please PM me your address and phone number (we don't want any CJ's to disappear).

Start thinking about your CJ. What you want included. Start buying or making your books.

I am thinking about a 15th of the month mailing...and starting the first mailing on March 15th. That gives everyone a little over a month to get theirs made. How does that sound to everyone? Let me know if anyone is going to need more time. As soon as I get addy's I'll make up our rounding list.

Thanks ladies for participating. I am really looking forward to this.

Jill

Is it okay if the book is around an 8x8 size? i have never done a CJ before but i dont want to do a real big book..so i was wondering if a smaller size would be ok?

8X8 is a great size. Remember, everyone has to pay for shipping...so you don't want to have something TOO big.
Thanks for responding with your addys.
This is going to be such an awesome group!!

Jill - I am going to have to drop out of this for now. I told my DH I was doing it and unfort, we discussed it and think its not such a good idea right now for me with the postage and all. We just moved into a new house and I don't have a job yet -- so he wants me to try and do some small swaps with far out due dates..so sorry..i didnt think about it when i joined. I hope the CJ swap goes well though for you all. im sad i have to drop. Thanks. - Jessica

I am planning on just sending 6x6 page protectors , it will be cheaper to mail. also, if it should disappear, I am not out a whole book.

Sorry folks I am going to have to bow out of this one. I would really love to do this one and one other one, but Boxing up and album and paying the postage is not in the budget. Putting page protectors in a bubble envie would be a lot more inexpensive.

Oops...didn't finish my message.
We have 2 that would like to join. I am going to PM them and let them know that we have spots.
Also...I think the cost of mailing the whole books around are making people nervous...depending on what you ladies think, we can just mail pages. It is just a thought. Let me know.

I like mailing the books as you can get a better idea of what the person wants and what others have done. if this goes to just mailing pages like the Chatty Cathy group then I will have to back out that has just been really difficult for me as I have no clue what the person wants.

Hi everyone thanks for letting me join. I would like to just mail the page protectors . I don't have an album yet but I have been searching. A friend of mine is in a CJ and they just send the page protectors ,I think I've seen one book? But they have everything listed as to how and what they want. I look forward to getting started.

Hi everyone! I am in a cj that you just send the pages and in a couple where you send the whole books. There are good things about both. It is easier when you just send the pages, but it is easier to make the pages the other way. That way you know more of what the person wants. But, we do post the pages and books and everything so, you see what kind of thing that they like.Just not in person.I am in whichever way you decide.

I decided to withdraw as I don't want to go the expense of mailing the book. However, if you decide to do page protectors or pages, either one is fine with me. page protectors is more personal as it is just like getting the whole book but with out the wieght. Pages are sort of just like doing page kits, nice to have just not as personal..

Hi Ladies,
Just got home from work. I am exhausted. Lots of activity here.
I think that most people are responding that they want to send page protectors and not the whole books. That is fine with me.
I'll be back in the morning to update the list of participants.
Have a great night.

Jill, thanks for the invite, but I will have to pass unless it would start after April 1st, as I will be out of town for Dad's memorial service. I have an album already for a pet cj, as I had prepared for this one to start months ago, but the timing just isn't good. I had to drop another one I had just started for health issues and going out of town. Hope you girls have fun!

Mine was going to be a paper bag album so there would be no way to send page protectors as I would not be using them so hostess and participants you decide if you want to be bothered by my album and let me know, don't want to be a pain.

Also since this is my first CJ I picked up some stickers, I was going to pick up pp but decided to wait. I'm not sure what all I need to do or buy for this, can someone help me out?

I found the cutest dog and cat stuff in Walmart, of all places! In the fabric area, there are little applique patches that are small and perfect for embellies! These were on a small stand with hooks for the packages, on top of the bins of rick-rack and zippers. Little packages with patches like bones, pet dishes and sayings. Hope you can find them near you!

the hostess here has sent me a PM. She is bowing out due to complications in her life. We wish her the best.

I just started at pet cj with 7 people in it. I am thinking about hosting this one also.

Does anyone else want to host this one? I can still do it, it just that it will take a little more work than I was planning on doing right now. So if someone wants to host, be my guest.

I would be doing page protectors only. Everyone would make a book of page protectors . Then add instructions on the first page and do a 2 page spread.

Then ad a sign in sheet on the back page.

You would have to post a tracking number everytime you mailed one out. It only costs $.60 Also, Everytime you receive one, please post. It is understandable that life gets us behind. Keep us informed.

I really have no use for page protectors so if this is going to be page protectors only then i will have to say no, if it is ok for the paper album then yes and I would be willing to host if needed.

I am content with paper bag albums. Anything you get back in a page protector, you can take out and mount on whatever you like. Send around 6x6 page protectors and then mount them on whatever you like. Most everyone has indicated they did not want to pay for shipping books around. I hope we are on the same page here. I guess I question what your definition of paper albums is.

all of this would be irrelevant if you host. You can call the shots as you like. Is that what you want to do?

You are headed in the right direction. If You have what you need for the basic layouts you will do in your own book, You are ready to go. I usually wait until I get an album before I buy what I don't have to get the next 2 page spread done.

Has this started? I work be interested if it is either a spiral bound, or hard bound type journal, if it's like an art journal. If it's a scrapbook I'm game too. I really don't care either way. I like both.

I know this is an old post, but I'm just finding it and I'd love to join something like this in the future. Are there any pictures of the finished pages posted anywhere so I could get an idea of what the finished book looked like?
