Helena and Debbieann, the challenges are for fun, for you to enjoy and expand your scrapping, and for us to get to know you better. So feel free to combine, share an appropriate oldie, or start everything from scratch--it's up to you!

Helena, what classes are you taking??

Laura, I forgot you asked me about my test!! I totally forgot to share my new with you gals! I passed that test with flying colors, and I've since been accepted into nursing school. I'll be starting in August!! You'll see MUCH less of me then, I'm sure!!

Great job

I just know you will have fun. when do you start??

Congrats Sherrise on passing the test, and starting nursing school!! I am so excited for you!
Great new lo's too! You were smoking this weekend!

Hi Kell!! I had beautiful weather yesterday, and instead of working in my garden, I stayed inside and cleaned house. My bedroom closet got a much needed cleaning, so at least it was a productive day. I think I would have had more fun outside though. My daffodils and snow drops are blooming like crazy. I am itching to get out and get some photos, featuring the ds too, of course.

Helena and Debbie, can't wait to see yoru layouts. I still need to do the BOM lo. I did several of those last year for a circle journal, and I haven't done anything like that since then. I find it so hard to scrap about myself.

Hi Melissa!! I love your race car lo. I used to have a lot of Jolee stuff too, and I still find a place for that now and again. I really like using those on cards and tags, since they add such whimsy and dimension to those types of things.

Well, I am at work, so I need to run! Talk to everyone later!!

Congrats Sherrise!! I have so much respect for nurses. What a wonderful profession you have chosen..

I found a store that carries Bam Pop so I am off to buy them out (lol) and then I am planning on making a LO for my bridal shower that was yesterday.

Happy family day if we have any other Canadians in the group.. and if not happy family day to me! haha

Hi Sherrise,

I am doing Childcare, Learning and Development.

This course gives lots of options once I am qualified:- teaching assistant, Nursery Supervisor, Creche Supervisor, really anything to do with childcare!

Congrads on passing your nursing test!!!!

Kell, I love the photo of your flowers!! Thanks!

I probably won't be able to do much until this weekend either. Still thinking about my BOM.

Chelsea, I hope you had a great family day!! I'll check out your latest in just a sec.

Helena, the courses you are taking sound great! I have been checking out some of the photo techniques you posted in your gallery too. I have been experimenting a little with that. Does anyone know of a free program I can try to add single colors back to my photos (such as a red rose on a b&w photo)?

Debbie, have fun today! I need to work on my scraproom, but when I go in there I just get overwhelmed. I think that was the inspiration for cleaning my closet. I have to reduce clutter and organize a little bit at a time.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies!!
Holy Cow, how long has it been since I logged on. I am learning quickly to keep up, I need to get in here every day, a couple of times!!
Chelsea, your layouts are great!! I love all the color you use. It sounds like you scrapbook product addiction is worse than mine. I have to will myself not to go into the LSS, or any of the other great chain stores. Now my personal challenge is not talking to the Stampin Up Consultant. Oh, Chelsea, by the way, to bad you are moving to the other coast of Canada, I am your neighbor to the south.
I have been busy working all weekend, and now I have time for chatting and scrapping. I only got to make one cute recipe swap LO for a get together I went to last evening. I will post it this afternoon.
I mainly wanted to tell you all hi, and I hope you have a great day.
Talk with you soon!!!

Hey wendyjo! that is too bad - when I lived in Lethbridge I used to take trips to great falls to shop fairly often. I didn't get one in this year but I wish I had because of the dollar being so good.

I have one more LO to do - a baby shower one - and then I will probably stop scrapping for a while... I'm out of photos plus we are starting the move on Saturday. I'm totally bummed because I probably won't be able to scrap for a few weeks.

On the upside, I am going to get a ton of photos from the road trip across Canada, and I have lots of travel themed supplies for making pages w/ those photos. AND I am hoping to stop at some various scrapbook store s along the way.. hehe.

I'm off to deep clean the kitchen now, bleh! You never clean so thouroughly as when you move out...

Hello everyone! I'm back from sunny Florida with lots of pics and new paper to use. I thought I'd tell you more about myself and then I'll do the BOM page this weekend after I get things squared away at home (have to do the bummer part of vacation, laundry and housework..yuck!)
I'm 46, have two grown sons, a fairly new husband and two border collies who seem to be the center of our lives (that's how they like it). You'll see a common topic of nature and animals in many of my layouts. I've always loved animals and the outdoors. I volunteer for the Wildlife Rehab and Education center here in Houston and baby bird, possum, squirrell, etc season is fast approaching so my scrapping may slow down a bit for a few months but I'll definately stay up-to-date with the group challenges.

I'm looking forward to getting to you y'all and growing as a scrapper!

Have a wonderful week all!

Beth

Chelsea, I lived in Great Falls for 13 years. Now I live in Missoula (shopping 110 times better). Missoula is west Great Falls, and is just about 15 miles from the Idaho border (if you take the country roads). Good luck in your move. Sounds like a long drive!!

I have lifted Sherrise, now if I post the BOM page, am I up to date?

We were on vacation with my parents in sunny Florida and what did my dh want to do? Watch NASCAR! Mom and I took it as an opportunity to hit one of the scrapbook store s in Ft. Myers and found some beautiful papers!

Personally, I think the NASCAR season is a great opportunity for me to close the door to my craft room, crank up the music and SCRAP!

Hope you're staying warm!

Hello! Checking in. Lots of layouts to look at today! Awesome!

My laptop got "fixed" this afternoon - they replaced the palm rest to fix a problem with my touch-pad left-click and now they have to come back tomorrow because now my keyboard is short a B key.

At least I bought a Dell with a 5-year in-home-service warranty. I don't have to send it away for five days every time that I need something repaired!

Oh, and I got a layout done for DH's g/pa's album for his HoF open house in April!

Laura, I didn't get much on the Coupons . I got a circle cutter but it's hard for me to use. I'm thinking of taking it back but don't know what one to get. Also, I really wanted was the Circut Stretch You Imagination.

Wendy, love the BOM layout of yours.

Chelse, I thought that your bridal shower LO was beautiful.

I will start my BOM LO soon. I have the pics printed out. And will do the other challenge soon. I'm excited about going up to see my ds and his wife this weekend. The one and only time I was in Gainesville was to go to Shane's Hospital. I got poked and electricity shot through my nerves. When the tech said that this wouldn't hurt, I quitely to him that he meant that it wasn't going to hurt him. lol It did hurt and I let him know it not so quitely. lol His faced changed color. lol

After some chores I will get one the LOs.

Geez, I just finished writing a ton of stuff and lost it all. I don't have time to re-write everything so here is the condensed version:

Wendy, love your latest!! You have been busy girlie. I'll go back in a sec and make sure I have seen everything!

Melissa, I really like the heritage page you finished. Love the effect of printing out the photo on textured cs. It really give it almost a linen look. The monogram looks great too.

Kell, NASCAR is a series of car races. I don't know much more, but it is very popular here, and the drivers are famous.

Helena, I was so interested in Whitby Abbey that I looked it all up on the internet. Fascinating place! Love your photos!! I really like your latest lo too. Great work!

Chelsea, I really like your Book of Me page! Have a great trip, and if you have a chance to check in while on the road, let us know how you are doing. Take care of yourself and your baby!!

Hey Beth!! Great to see ya! I'll try to get by your gallery later tonight!

Ok, I have to go get ready for work. Have a wonderful day/night, since I think Kell and Helena are actually ahead of us by a few hours.

TTFN!!

Kelli - NASCAR - take the Grand Prix held in Monte Carlo, make the cars 10 times as expensive, put them on an oval track, have them drive 500 laps and you have a NASCAR race. My husband likes the sport because he can watch the race start, take a nap, wake up to get the status of the race and take another nap! Personally, I think it's boaring, noisy and an excuse for a bunch of people to get really drunk! Not my idea of a good time. If course, I like the ballet but my husband rolls his eyes and goes so I don't complain about the car races on TV! JEff also has a very stressful job so a day with nothing to do is a good thing for him.

NASCAR = National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing

It's a US race series that starts in February in Daytona, Florida and ends in November in Miami, Florida. They race all over the US at various tracks and I think that there's also a race in Mexico for one of the levels.

Hi Ladies! Just checking in... and I'm all caught up again. I'm hoping to be able to work on my BOM page tonight or tomorrow... probably the latter...lol... as I've got to go pick up 2 of the boys from school in about an hour, quick do some homework until 4:45, go to the church to donate blood at 5pm, pick up remaining son from track practice and get youngest son to soccer practice from 6-8... then dinner... blah blah blah. Hmmm - definitely tomrrow! LOL

Thank you ladies for the nice comments on my BOM layout I saw it on the main page a couple of days ago... I called the fiance over to look and took a screenshot of it. I am such a nerd, but it was so exciting!! I saw wendyjo's BOM layout featured last night as well. GO critique group 3!!

OH and guess what!!?!!?! I got a cricut! Walmart had them reduced from $240 to $197 and cartridges down to $67 so I got the machine and a 'new arrivals' cartridge. It's just the regular - not the expression - but the expression is $500 everywhere here, and I think the original will suit me just fine. I had some GC's so I paid only $100 for it YAY!!!!!!

Hey Chelsea,
Do you LOVE the cricut? I have one as well. Not the Espression either. I haven't gotten the Cricut Design Studio yet, but I heard that it will give the original Cricut all of the same features as the Expression, except obviously doesn't allow it to cut 12 inch paper and cut chipboard.

I love mine. I am waiting to get my free cartridges from Cricut. They had a deal in December, if you bought 2 cartridges in December, and mailed in your receipts, you would get a free cartridges. They gave you a list to choose from. I bought four cartridges in December, so I am waiting on two free cartridges. It has been almost 8 weeks. I hope it didn't get lost.

That is cool that my BOM was on the home page. I wish I could have saw it. I wondered how certain LO's got featured.

You all have a good day!!

Oh, Bev, I have a gal that should be contacting you about joining the group. I hope it is OK. Are we still excepting new members?

So what is cricut design studio? I haven't taken it out of the box at all yet - I'm debating on whether or not I'm going to since we're moving in just a few days.... but my curiosity may get the best of me. The box has a handle at least so it's easy enough to transport

I wanted the expression but with the huge price difference ($300!) I just didn't think it was worth it. The original cuts shapes big enough for my use. I hope your cartridges arrive soon!

Me too!! I really want those cartridges!!

The design studio is a program you can load onto your computer and you can connect letter from all of the font cartirdges, and I guess lots of other stuff. They are like the cost of a cartridge. At my LSS they have one, and she says she has found lots of little gliches. When she has a class, I am going to take it and I'll see then.

Yep - if you check out my profile I have a picture of an inn there.. my mom bought that inn and we will be living there in a two bedroom suite for at least the first year. We are saving up for our own house, and I'm going to be working in the tea room of the inn.

We will have the biggest suite - 2 bedrooms, living room, bathroom, and back access to the kitchen. It's bigger than the apartment we currenty live in actually! It's in Prince Edward Island - just a few minutes from the confederation bridge.

thanks for the nice words about my gallery

Promise I'll pay more attention to y'all this weekend. I've been working on some stuff but nothing's ready to post yet.
I seem to be in that post-vacation mode . . . you know the one...trying to recover from the vacation!
Looks like just about everyone's got something nice posted. The BOM page is step out of the box for me but I'll figure something out by the end of the weekend...promise. Already know what I'll lift from Sherrise's gallery so at least I have things partially planned! I'll pick up some pictures today so I can get going!

Have a good day!

Beth

Hi Beth!! I know exactly what you mean about "post vacation mode". It always seems I need a vacation from the vacation, just to catch up.

Chelsea, the suite at your mom's inn sounds wonderful!! The cricut is a great machine. I had a chance to use one at a crop not too long ago.

Diana, your schedule sounds like mine, except that it is multiplied by 3!! Sam had a soccer game on Tuesday night, and it seems I am constantly running from one event to another.
I don't know how you keep up with 3 boys.

Wonderful lo's everyone!! I hope to have something to share soon. TTFN!!

Pooh. I have to go back work tomorrow. I've been off for about 5 weeks now on medical leave. I'm only working 1/2 days for the next couple of weeks, but I've really enjoyed the time I've been home and able to be with my kids and scrapbook!

Chelsea, awesome buy with the Crickut! Have fun playing, even if you can't scrap. Awesome that you're able to stay in that beautiful inn! I hope that you have a great trip cross-country, too. I know you're not leaving for a bit, but still.

Welcome back, Beth!

Uhm... if I missed anything I'm sorry!

Hi Girls!! I think you gals are the BEST too!! I'm sorry if I've not been around much these past few days, just busy with my daughter's birthday, Valentine's day, and then My hubby's birthday right in a row! This weekend may be better.. we have some secret guests coming though! It's a surprise for hubby! His son's flying up from Georgia, and all his kids are gonna show up here tomorrow. This was a 'big birthday' and they wanted to share it with him. He'll be delighted!!

I'll catch up individually on Saturday, hopefully!

Hey Everyone. Sorry that I have been MIA for the last couple of days. With the wedding and everything this weekend I spent a lot of time with the kids Monday and last night and I still have a TON of laundry to do. Yuck! I will attempt to catch up on LO and comments today and tomorrow. Sorry!

Hi Nicole!! I am off to try to catch up on your gallery! Great to see ya. I hope you were able to take lots of photos at the wedding. I just love weddings. They always make me smile!

Melissa, I read your post about being on medical leave. Are you doing ok? Oh, I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog too! I don't blog very regularly, but I am trying to update that a little more often.

I would love to have some time home, but I just started my latest job this past September. No paid vacation until at least September of this year . . . I'll probably use that for our family vacation. I think we are going back to Disney World this year. I just love that place, and it has been so much fun taking Sam. The magic seems to double when you are there with your kiddo.

I am now. I was off because I had emergency surgery in January. At that time, I found out I had endometriosis. I have a c-section-type incision on my abdomen and I'm about 5 weeks post-op, so I'm doing a lot better.

They weren't able to get all of the endometrial cells in the surgery, so my doctor put me into menopause for the next few months to try to kill off the remaining cells. The only reason I didn't go back to work sooner is because I was worried about the side effects of the depo lupron that causes the menopause, but so far it seems to be OK.

It gave me the chance to remember why I love being a SAHM. I hope that my husband and I can get ourselves back into a financial situation where I can do that again. I really am not wanting to work today. (Hence the reason I'm here on sb.com ! LOL!)

I am so mad.... I just wrote a huge post and pressed the back browser and lost it all

so to start all over again!!!

Bev you are on a roll with your lifts, nice work.. but why has one of them be disabled from embedding? was it naughty stuff??

Beth, warn your DH that using your craft room is definitely grounds for divorce!!!

Sherrise, hope your weekend goes well, I am off to your gallery in a minute to choose my lift, so many wonderful choice, how will i ever choose?

Laura, what a good idea of yours for me to soak in a bath full of bubbles, you know me so well!! :smile : What is your job now? you said you had just changed, I didn't realise that?

Mellissa, sorry to hear about your endometriosis. That can't be at all nice. i hope they manges to clear it completely.

it was at this point I lost my message because I was laughing at my computer trying to spell check.
The computer thinks endometriosis should be, cliometricians or econometricians or biometrics's or isometrically or econometrics's..... any of those you fancy instead???

Happy Friday to everyone then except Wendy, happy midweek to you.

I am off to a scrap tomorrow, and i have 22 vintage ATCs to make, I have prepared all the embellishments and will assemble them tomorrow. Do Sherrise lift and i have another Lo to do for another group and i entered " I love flowers" but couldn't find a BIG flower, so I might give that a miss.

Kelli...my DH already knows he's on borrowed time! Our dog knocked a table over and it landed on his laptop and broke the screen. He's waiting for bonus time in a few weeks to get another one. We moved into a new house last summer and he STILL has not finished his office. That will also be done at bonus time too or he'll be living in his truck! I'm not allowed to decorate "his room" and it's driving me nuts!

Melissa, Laura and Bev thanks for taking the time to go through my gallery and leave some love! Geeze y'all spent a bunch of time there! I'd love some contstructive criticism also...always looking to improve.
I'm hoping to get some pages done this weekend but I have a few other things to get done and we've got tickets to the ballet on Sunday. Perhaps I'll get a picture of my husband sleeping through it and have some goofy lo material! Need to get back to work Have a good afternoon!

Grrrrrrrrrr!! My internet has not been working well for the last two days.

I pulled out the cricut last night (couldn't resist) and WOW I love it! I made a little card for my friend:

Baby Boy Card

I was also contacted by srapbook art e-zine .. they want to publish my "bridal showers" and "me right now" layouts. I haven't been able to get my net working long enough to check it out yet.. I'm not sure if I wil go for it or not.

Hope you ladies have a great weekend - tommorrow is the start of my move so I may not be on too much for the next couple of weeks.

Great job on being selected for publication, maybe after your move you will feel more up to it.

Sweet little card, I am useless at making them!

You guys!!!

I have AWESOME news. Well... nothing to do with scrapping. But I got offered a new job at work today! It would go to a full-time position. I would work for a different boss. I would make THREE TIMES my current salary. AND I'd get to keep the school year schedule I currently have!

Life is so good for me today.

And CONGRATULATIONS to you, Chelsea, for the pub offer! That's AWESOME!

No, big deal. It just means the person didn't check the box to allow public embedding. You can still look it up the old way by the web address.

And, congrats to Chelsea and Melissa (and hope that helps you get better faster).

I'm hoping to get a lot of scrapping done tonight!

Wow! I've read stories of women who had it a long time and never knew. I was in so much pain that I couldn't stand it and I only had a fist-sized tumor. The thing that made it painful was where it was located, though. It was putting pressure on my bladder and other organs down there and it was irritating my abdominal cavity.

I'm glad you were able to catch it, though, even though it took a hysterectomy. I was lucky to only lose a fallopian tube and ovary. I can still have kids, as long as this depo lupron treatment works and takes care of the stray cells.

Anyhow, enough gabbing. I think I want to scrap some today. I've been feeling kind of lazy the past few days!

MelissaW – I’m actually from Madison Heights, which is a Detroit suburb. My friends’ wedding was right in Kalamazoo, downtown actually. Can’t remember what building it was, but we stayed at the Comfort Inn. It was very nice.

Chelsea - I love your creativity in your pages. You have an amazing talent for putting things together that I would never even dream about. By the way congrats on the baby boy, I have one (well he’s 2 ½ now) but he is so much fun! And my parent’s anniversary is the 19th. Have a good move.

Sherrise – You have so many great pages to choose from, but I think I found one that will be great for me to lift.

BethG – I know it’s late, but welcome back and can’t wait to see the pictures.

Laura – I absolutely love Disney World and I love it even more now that I get to take my kids every year. Hope you get to go when you get your vacation at the end of the year.

Kell – Your post made me laugh! And have fun at your crop tomorrow.

I left everyone (I think) some love on their LO’s. I should be all caught up and I am hoping to get some LO’s of my own up either tonight or tomorrow night. My son is spending the night at my parents, so there is just our little girl and she goes to bed at 7:30, so I have all night to scrap tomorrow, can’t wait! Also everyone wish me luck, because I am suppose to hear next week about a new job that I have been going through a grueling interview process that still isn’t over with. I have done a phone interview, a 152 question assessment and a role playing exercise and I still haven’t gotten to the actual management interview yet (it’s for an assistant manager job), huge raise.

Woohoo Chelsea!! So proud for you on the publication offer! You go girl!

Hi Wendy!! So glad to see you too. Can't wait to see your recipe box. It sounds wonderful. I have been intending to make something like that for gifts, and just never got around to it. I did see a wonderful idea for ribbon storage on another thread. Look at this: ribbon container

I am going to try to make one of these this weekend with an old round dishwasher detergent container.

Kell, can't wait to see your ATC's. Have fun at your crop too.

Well, everyone here is sick, so I will be taking my ds to the doctor a little later this morning. I have bronchitus (sp?)and right now I am up trying to manage the coughing fits. My son just took a breathing treatment, so he is not much better than I am. Talk to everyone later!!

I work for the local public school district. Right now, until my new position starts, I'm in the Office of Homeless Services. I maintain a database that tracks the homeless student population and their movement, etc. I run reports throughout the year for my boss. I wear a lot of hats.

My new position has to do with video production. I'm not sure of all of the details. I applied for it the like Monday before I had surgery, so it was a while ago! I know that it involves video production, possibly with Adobe on either Windows Vista or Mac computers. I don't know if I'll be working with students much, but I do know that a lot of my job entails training staff members. I'll be at one of our middle school sites and my biggest boss is used to be a new teacher when I was in high school! LOL! Things have come full circle for me in this district!

Thanks for all of the congratulations, girls. I'm really excited because more money will mean that my house will go back to normal where bills are concerned, and YES, I will be able to budget money for scrapbook supplies again! Yippee!

Wow! You were pretty close to me! There's like 5 churches around Bronson Park downtown, so it's hard saying which one you were in. They're all beautiful. If I hadn't gotten married on the beach, I would have gotten married in one of those churches!

Next time you're in Kalamazoo, let me know!

In response to MeliMedina

Sorry to be a little MIA this weekend. My little boy is sick, and we are headed back to the doctor's office again today.

Melissa, your job sounds so interesting! I am "computer challenged" for the most part. My hubby installs computer systems and trains people as part of his job, so I just rely on him to make certain everything works. I can't imagine being able to use a computer for video production and editing. So cool!!

Kell, you asked about my change in jobs . . . I worked for the Mississippi Board of Nursing for almost four years as the Board's attorney, and then went back into private practice a little over one year ago. The change to the law firm I went to work for last year was a little more stressful than I anticipated, and in September I had an opportunity to work closer to home for a solo practitioner. It has turned out to be one of the best moves I have ever made. I had no idea how much the commute had been adding to my stress, and my present job is much more laid back than the position I had with corporate law firm.

Beth, I love your lift!! Your journaling is wonderful, and those colors just remind of the beach.

Bev and Melissa, as soon as I get back from the doctor's office, I'll try to check out your latest!!

Talk to everyone later!
